los angeles coolant

help...need to get from echo park to marina del rey tomorrow and need to top up my coolant first...(especially in this heat)
anyone know anywhere on the way or out there I can pick up the havoline dex stuff?

just add water (distilled) if all you're doing is topping off.

Pep Boys has it. It's Prestone Extended Performance in a Gray container.
It says, "DEX-COOL" if you look closely. There's some reference to GM also. It's the correct stuff to use.

Many take the owner's manual as gospel and have to have whatever they've listed. how many threads have we had where an owner is looking for Havoline coolant or Havoline motor oil?!?!!!!

I have a jug of the Prestone DexCool sitting in my garage that I was going to use on my MR2T before I sold it. I'll probably use the Toyota red stuff in the Elise when the time rolls around.

If you're just topping off then I don't see a problem with adding a quart of distilled water. You shouldn't be too low on coolant if you don't have any leaks.
