Lotus Warranty repairs...05 Data dump?

Ok, I have to get my transmission I've used for 2 months replaced because my 2nd gear synchros broke. I drove the car hard but nothing that wouldn't be expected from an avid enthusiast. Plus, its not like I raced it and those loti are fine.

Well...Lotus wants to do a data dump on my 05 last 4 of the vin are 5019. I don't think what it will show will be bad but I did hear that there were problems doing data dumps on late model 05s. Any suggestions?

If they want to do a data dump, they are looking for wiggle room out of your warranty.

they don't deserve to wiggle out of it. I never raced or really did anything bad. Thats bull**** if they try to get out the warranty. Can they do that?

What about the problem getting the data? Isn't there an issue with the late 05s?

Depends on what the data dump says. If it shows any missed shifts or lots of standing starts, then expect a battle.

Heard that about the '06s but not about the '05s.

edit: might want to change your user title.

yeah, you see that...its in referenct to motorcycles though. I'll battle allright. I'll cause a scene untill they pay for the synchros that broke. I don't want a new trans, just the synchros.

Lotus will lose. And I don't care if I have alot of standing starts, thats cause for a bad clutch, not for a broken synchro!!!

I recommend spreading the word that all of these defects be reported to the NHTSA. This will show statistically that there is a defect in the Lotus transmission.
