Let me second the recommendation for Lotus ofPrinceton (Sports and Specialist Cars, I think). They are top-notch. Their techs are also restorers of concours-winning classic Aston Martins, so I think they may have a bit more attention to detail than your run-of-the-mill mechanic.

Besides Hopewell/Princeton:

Elite Motorwerks
171 Washington St
Morristown
973-984-3800

Colin Miller

Does lots of Porsches, knows Lotuses quite well, worked in a Lotus shop.

What kind of work do you need? I know others as well.

Mech in NJ

RS motorsports in Closter(up Pky) Ralph Stechow has been working on Lotus for years and to my knowledge is the ONLY independent shop Authorized to work on Lotus. He was a trouble shooter for the Turbo Espirit for Lotus for years, and still works on them for Lotus when there is a problem. If you have an Espirit,he has probably worked on it if the dealer had an issue. He is Authorized by Lotus cars to do warantee work on Elise and Exige----Supply parts,also-----good guy, neat shop----201-7500700. You are talking about a Lotus Mech, aren't you?

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not looking to do anything in particular now, just was curious if there were a couple good mechanics around should anything arise. I'll do my own oil changes and other minor work, but I would like to strike up a good relationship in case major work is needed. Elite is basically down the road from me so I will give them a try. What I don't understand about the Lotus service departments in NJ (including in Princeton) is that they aren't open on Saturdays. Big pet peeve of mine. Why can't they close on Monday and open on Saturday? Oh well, hopefully Elite or RS will work out.

Thanks again all!

Elite

Elite Motorwerks is closed for business as of August 1st. May have to give RS a shot although they don't have Saturday hours.

RS motorsports is a great shop. I used them when maplecrest closed and abandoned us. One man shop and the owner is an enthusiast just like us. I live in the next town over from you and we are 30+ minutes from anyone who is comfortable jacking up the Elise.

Park Avenue Lotus in Paramus (I think) may have a clue by now. Last year at this time they just started the dealership and I had a horrible experience. They did not have anyone there factory trained yet.

Good luck to us in Morris COunty. Oh and I have a 4 post lift if I can be of serivce feel free to email me.
