Normal Mechanic for the Lotus Elise?

Does anyone here take their Lotus to normal mechanics or perhaps just shops specializing in European cars? The Lotus dealer is way too far and expensive. I have done some simple work on the car myself but really I dont see anything that unique about it. For example, if I want to change the clutch. This would be something too big for me to do at home but something any high quality shop should be able to do. Feedback?

There are a lot of Lotus owners in your area. Some of them should be able to direct you to a good shop. Check the 'Florida' region forum.

You might be surprised how much you can do, if you have the patience and skill, if you have the Tilting Clam Kit. And if you still want a shop to work on it how much more receptive they are when you can tilt the clam back and gain access from underneath on a lift. I really like my tilting clam, then you do not have to feel liek you are held hostage to a calm removal everytime you want to tinker on your Lotus.
