oil change

hey guys sorry for the silly question, but as far as oil changes go do we have to go to the dealer for that. I have no means of doing it on my own and the nearest dealer from me is now 2 hour away (recently moved to texas). Basically would anyone feel comfortable bringing their car to a local place for service. Anyways thanks for the help.

Chris

There are 3 dealers in TX you sure you don't have one close by?

Otherwise get the downloadable manuals from lotus at $25 to get the files to a local competent mechanic, I wouldn't know where you can find one of those

Check this thread for the site you can get the manuals from and someone posted an utility to download them all instead of pdf by pdf:

If you get the manuals let us know if how many service bulletins do they have just in case it's time to update the manuals.

While the oil change itself is not very difficult, there are many other things done at each service interval that you can't neglect. Nothing seems terrible difficult from looking at the list, mainly a lot of checking and retorqueing fasteners.

I've got a local Toyota dealer who will change the oil and I supply the filter and oil while I wait at the service hourly rate which is fine with me. And I get to stand there and watch/supervise as part of the deal. They actually want the car there to get a closer look at and see what Lotus has done with their engine. The sales manager was happy to see the car and thinks that he can use it to tell people how wonderful their engine is - that's why LOTUS picked it to use in their ubercar. I haven't needed it changed so far so we'll see how it goes.

Be carefull, Toyota is the Microsoft of the car industry they are going to take over the world.

Funny but rummor is that Microsoft "might" help sponsor Toyota's F1 cars.

No worries, I don't hate Microsoft nor Toyota.
