I should also add, while I am unsure about the long term reliability of the engine now, and wish Criswell did a little more indepth analysis on the engine's condition, I was fairly impressed with their service.

Marty in service was attentive, responsive, and took the time to answer all my questions. The operation was very efficient, I think I spent a total of 5 min both dropping off and picking up the car. And, Tom Skinner was also very helpful as usual. He tracked down a towing company for me, and also helped me work out arrangements to pickup my car Friday night. So to them, I say thanks.

Smile Return oil line

in my case it was the return oil line that poped! so the cool oil was going out and the engine ran dry. First time I picked the car up from the dealer they said it was fine. When I arrived home I could hear the ticking, especially in the garage where noise reflects. So I called them back and had them listen to it over the phone and make them guess what engine they were listening to. when they thought it was a diesel it was time to replace!

if your engine sounds like a diesel motor then maybe your cam & rocker arm is messed up.

I had the same problem happen at just over 1000km (~600mi).

I live in BC, Canada. I went away for the weekend and the oil line popped off just as I was starting back home. I had to have the car towed 240mi. After the dealer took a look at, they realized that the engine was damaged and said that Lotus would ship a new one.

There is nothing quick about getting the replacement engine in BC. The engine must come from Atlanta and cross the border. I have been waiting 3 1/2 weeks and still no idea when it will arrive.

Have any of you noticed replacement parts taking a while to arrive?
