I picked a few up from Champion Toyota because Lotus doesn't use the 1004s anymore.

Here are some pictures..

Howdy! Well, I was a long time lurker until I saw this thread, so deceided to join up

Surprised no one has mentioned TruFilter yet. www.trufilter.com I've heard nothing but good things about the filter, but have yet to buy one personally. Long life (/reusability), high filtration, and the billit aluminum look seem to be a winning combination, but they have yet to list one for the lotus elise/exige specifically. They claim to fit any application if you ask em though, so worth a try if you guys are tired of hunting for OEM paper filters .

As for Palm Beach Motor Cars, in general, I'm kinda disappointed with them. I live in coral springs, and drove all the way (i know, not too long, but a good hours trip) to West Palm Beach for a schedualed test drive. When I arrived, I was met with dismissive attendants (although, I was 20, so I understand ) who told me the demonstrator was in the shop all day because of a blown speaker. Alright, totally understand. So I went inside to see how I would fit in it at least (me being 6'3" and all), only to see the attendants jump in the 'defunct' demonstrator and drive away. *sigh* well, 2 hours round trip wasted for NO test drive (btw, I had called the day before, and the demonstrator was 'fine'). In their defense, a lotus representative wasn't there that day, and I was pretty young looking (and therefore, hard to be taken seriously).

Really sorry to hear about the lift dent in the chassis/screw manhandling at PBMC and kinda scares me to the point where I'm thinking about just going to The Collection down in Miami to finally get my test drive (that is, if they have a demonstrator).

Maybe the "blown speaker" affected the handling? LOL!

Varien,
They do have a filter match for the Elise. Just look at the Toyota Celica GTS (same engine). The odd thing is they list the same filter part number for almost all Toyotas, particularly after 1988. Does this seem right?

It is a pretty expensive filter (starts at $120), and you do have to spend the time to clean it.

I can't find any independent review data of trufilter.

.
Some manufactures use the same part number for all Toyotas because the oil filter housing (not sure what it is called) is the same size. The only difference between the OEM and some aftermarket filters is the length. Generally the larger engines have longer filters.
