P0012

I keep getting this code (Camshaft actuator timing retarded) and I don't understand why. Mechanic adjusted the cam timing gear and it's correct. Still keeps coming back. Occasionally, it will limit RPM to 6500, and after clearing the code, it won't limit RPMs, or sometimes it will. It hasn't been consistent.

Mechanic says everything is mechanically sound, so this may be a tune issue, though the car used to run perfectly on this tune.

Car is 2006 Elise with BWR s/c and PES tune. Any suggestions are appreciated.

If you think it's tune related, have you considered Charlie's tune? It's the best out there.

Yes that was going to be my next course of action: Charlie's tune. I just don't get why the tune worked so well before and now suddenly it's problematic, assuming that's the problem.

Thanks choi.
