Polycarbonate Rear Window Protector, Single and Group Buy

I have the PolyCarbonate Rear Window Protector back in stock.

Cost is $69 shipped anywhere in the USA. If some you want to order a few together, I will ship them for $50 each plus actual shipping. That way you can combine more than one to save on the shipping.

The new version is cut on a CNC machine and I have added 2 more suction cups to stop rattling in the corners.

For those of you that are not aware, the Elise has an air flow issue that directs rocks that pass over the car into the cockpit and they smash into the rear window causing it to shatter. While the cost of the window is small at about $60 or so....the cost to install it runs somewhere between $500 to $800 as they usually have to remove the clam. I have heard of one place that does it without removing the clam, but I dont have confirmation of that.

And, some have complained that once this is done, the rattles increase and the car is just never the same.

I think this is cheap protection, but then I am biased as I am selling these. Quite a few of them are out there already and I have not had one complaint. So this means by posting this I am probably inviting complaints...but what the heck.

If you would like one, email me at tony *at*.....my website below....or send me a PM.

Edit.....for those that have not seen one on a car, they are almost invisable behind you and you only see one suction cup. dont even know it is there.

Thanks.

Highly recommended. Simple to put in (just stick it to the window, and you don't know it's there - and most others don't notice it even when they have looked for it).

The only problem with it is that if I haven't used the car for quite a while, the suction cups will have let loose and I have to stick it back up (and that was really stretching it to find a downside to it). Not a problem at all.. HIGHLY recommended.

Yes...I have noticed that after over a year of continual use...you do have to clean the cups and the window every now and then.

I do include a spare set of cups, enough to replace everyone once and the offer to send you new ones for the cost of postage if you ever need them.

Tim, thanks for the recomendation.

Well, I bought the protector a couple of years ago now. The original cups are still on it with no problem - no need for me to have changed them yet. I still have my spare ones put away somewhere nice and safe (which is code for I'd have to spend several hours trying to find then again ).

Seriously, I tend to keep my cars completely stock, but this "mod" is a no brainer. The chances that I might get a rock hitting my rear window is pretty low, but with the protector I don't have to worry about it at all. When I first heard of the problem, I was planning on making my own protector, but Tony came up with it before I had bothered to get around to it, and it was about as cheap as I could have done it myself, so it was a no brainer. With the protector in place, it's one less thing I have to worry about when driving the Elise.

I can tell all that it is not that rare for us. It happaned more than 5 times in our car and the shield has protected us all buy one time. That one time I had my shield out to take it to the CNC guy. It "pinged" off the glass....

Now keep in mind that my son drives the Elise mostly now and follows me in my Caterham with real sticky tires...and they throw up stones. So that may account for the frequency that we see it
