Quick, Replace your Battery

No new revelation here, but I was bored yesterday and cleaning the car. I removed the truck carpet just to find battery acid everywhere. It's been said several time before and I ignored the advice. REPLACE YOUR BATTERY.

I went out and purchased a PC625. I then fabed an aluminum bracket that weighs next to nothing, cost 3 bucks and will survive a car crash . No more battery acid and I shaved a few pounds making the improvement

Have an acid free day

Best,

Phil

Phil, do you have a photo? Does your bracket mount the PC625 horizontally or vertically? Need to do mount vertically (long dimension up) to make room for a water injection tank.

Thanks - James

James,

Photos are on the site here:

http://boefabrication.com/index.php?...d=35&Itemid=35

I just added them.

A similar bracket could be easily made to mount vertically though... Just run to home depot and buy some 1" aluminum strap and begin bending it. It helps to heat it a bit, but a few cold bends won't hurt this type of project...

Best,

Phil

Does this leakage from the stock battery apply to the '07 Lotus Exige S or only in the later model Elise?

You would think Lotus would resolve this issue by learning from past mistakes. If it applies to all S2 Lotus cars, then that battery bracket is beginning to look really nice lol

The '06 and on cars had a sealed (no-maintenance) battery -- heavy, but it didn't leak.

It still lost a charge damn fast.....

Since I do more street driving then track I decided to go with a red top... it fits the stock bracket and holds a charge for more then 2 days

Well, FWIW, I've had my '05 almost three years, I check the battery often and no trouble so far.

Are you the same Matt thats from the NsxPrime? Didn't you used to own a BBSC Reverse Rotated Novi 2k Supercharger with an aftercooler kit, identical to my setup? Avatar appears to look the same but Who could be certain without asking, right?

Just make sure to check carefully under the carpets when you think you are fine. I thought I was, and it was leaking. Replaced with a PC680 and now a battery from Voltphreaks.

Not me...never owned an NSX, though if the Elise hadn't come along when it did I'd have bought one. My avatar's an original creation; maybe someone 'borrowed' it from here!

Hi Matt,

Thats so strange. It just so happens someone has your same exact Avatar on NsxPrime. Apparently, its not you because I found out his name is Marc. Its a 4 letter name and the first two letter are the same, which is how I got you two confused. But if you look at his profile below, he got an Elise after he sold his Nsx.

Yep, that's my avatar alright! I'm not offended, I've done the same thing in the past, using avatars found elsewhere especially in a case like this where the image is fairly abstract.
