STRIPPER ALERT!

I'm in a bit of a dilema. I decided to put my cat back on as I have a track day @ VIR just a week away. After running the resonated de-cat pipe at Road Atlanta last month I've decided it's too loud and I'm afraid the db's won't be allowed at VIR. While installing the two bolts that hold the cat section to the downpipe I cross threaded one bolt. I borrowed a friends die set but I can't seem to figure out the correct die for this bolt. The head takes a 9mm socket. I don't have much experience with this type of problem so I wondered if I could get some help from someone who has. On the back side of the downpipe connection I could put a nut and use a smaller sized bolt in order to get by for next weekend but I'd like to fix it right to begin with. Could this be a sign...Should I just get a header sent quick?

Thanks in advance!

To be clear... you are rethreading the bolt?

What is the measured diameter of the threads on the bolt in mm? Now measure the pitch of the threads in mm.

I just noticed today that one of my bolts that holds on my rear diffuser is stripping the threads in the female end. It looks like the last person to open it up really tightened it WAY too hard and stripped it.

I was thinking of just getting some plumber's tape to help secure the bolt, but maybe I should consider rethreading the female end?

Steve, you are talking about the larger allen head bolts?

There was a thread recently about the same issue.

Somethin' strange about bolts in the rear and plumbers all in the same post.

As Benny Hill used to say, "Don't get too many of those to the pound, do you?"
