I needed windows adjustments but that was it until today, when driving on the freeway I hit an uneven section of road. To my surprise my left indicator light fixture pop out and started hanging by the wires. I stopped and popped it back in but now wonder if its a warranty thing or I just have to better watch out for bumps.

Your mechanic can fix the light under warranty but you might want to put a small dab of glue on the underside to hold it on better.

Both of my turn signals did that but it's an easy fix.

Thanks!
My first post here! Very informative all. I have been thinking of buying a '05 model and it looks like the car is relatively troube-free. I own a '06 Mini Cooper S JCW GP and it has been wonderfully reliable....

63,000 miles and counting... after the next repairs.
63,000 plus miles on an 05. Pretty much no problems mechanically, electronically, or anything else. Oh... the stock radio faceplate has vibrated loose but its still workable. The next repair is from the lady that ran into the back of me last week. New clam time... sucks to be her. I did get even though by bending her front license plate! Oh well, back to the Esprit till the Elise gets back.

Sorry for bringing this thread from the past, but I'm getting close to taking the leap and getting an Exige S, and am a bit skeptical about reliability issues. I've owned three Subaru's and they have been bulletproof with reliability, so I'm a bit apprehensive about that for the Exige. Thoughts?
I have to admit I've also started being haunted by the new M3, can't help it, but it's sexy as hell in person and may be a bit more comfortable for the wife (a can nut in her own right, nonetheless). Thanks, Nawambo

I have had a problem with the lights. First both main beans and tail lights did not work. Thedealer fixed it and it lasted a month or so. Turned out to be a loose wire on the light control box behind the dash. Not the left from main bean is not working but the high bean does. Must be another loose wire. Here is the good thing it was fixed under the 3 year warrenty that end the day after the first work. Now i want to see if I get charged or are they wanting me to use the extented coverage w/100 deductable.

I'm on my second lotus (Elise and now s240) Elise had window, soft top, headlight switch issues. Mostly petty stuff but still issues. S240 has had front suspension issues both cars fixed under warrenty. Yes it is a hassel but the cars have a driving experience that is simply awesome. I wish build quality was better but it's something I look past as I love the cars. An m3 is such a differant experience and the plushness is nice but don't expect that with an exige as you need the mind set or you will be selling it. Drive them, evaluate, enjoy ![]()

2006 Elise
Lets see..
Loose screw on window (see uberpost) many times.. you just get used to it. Windows leak but the guy at the car wash said the Ferrari's did as well so... ![]() Finally figured the magic combination for the AC.. yes I live in Az and this is my daily driver 1. during peak of summer, don't take surface streets (baby doesn't like idling at 120 degrees) freeway 2. always select recirculate 3. at some point you'll feel the fan .. fade. Shut the AC button off for about 2 min.. fan still running... (cool air will continue to blow and will increase as fan .. unfreezes) 4. this summer I think I'll put the hard top on. Replaced driving light bulb once.. so far Changed oil (fit underpan screws loosely until all are set in place) When fitting soft top, set guide pegs on passenger side first, go to driver side, set peg and snap down top. Then go back to passenger side and snap down. I now have a distroyed side pannel on my softop (still works but..) tried to pull it down with passenger side set. Collect all loose nuts bolts.. check for placement during maintenance. Engine cover screws come lose easily.. try a little blue loctite. I think that's it so far.. but love her still and always will ![]()

The only problem I seem to have encountered (not including the usual window rattling, trunk seal leak, etc) is an odd idling issue that recently popped up.
At a dead stop, foot off the peddle, my 07 Elise has developed a need to idle between 1500-1800. Typically, it idles around 800-1000. I'm going to explore the IAC issue others seem to be having before it goes to the shop on Tuesday. Fingers crossed it's a simple fix! (I'm open to suggestions if anyone else has encountered this same issue.) |
