Traction control kicks in with right turns

Tried a search but couldn't find the answer.

Is there a TSB or something about this? TC kicks in with right turns only. More with slow turns like turning right from a stop sign. Problem goes away when TC is turned off or the wheel is straightened.

Yes been there done that. Annoying isn't it. The good news is that it is easy to fix. I just did an ECU reset. I did not have an OBD tester at the time so I did what Charlie suggested.
Run the motor, switch off then disconnect the battery after three seconds.I did this three times to be sure and it has been perfect since (June) This does not effect any reflash on the ECU so it is safe. Please post how it goes as it took me weeks to figure it out !!

Sweet. That was the answer I was looking for! I saw a couple of posts where people mentioned CharlieX's "fix" but could never find what that actually was.

I'm out of town right now but will try it in a couple days when I get back home and let you know how it goes.

Thanks, Richard!

Thats covering up the fault, which is why i usually have people talk to me instead of posting that procedure.

Either one of the sensors on the ABS is failing, the wire might be being pulled when you turn the wheel (this is typically the problem) which causes the TC to think the wheel is slipping, so it adjusts accordingly by altering speed via TC.

Or you have different sized front and rear wheels from factory spec, and turning it makes it go over the allowed 3% or so difference.

AH HA!

Thanks CharlieX! Covering up another fault may have actually caused the problem. In dealing with the famed "ice mode" problem, I unplugged one of the ABS sensors for my last track day and haven't plugged it back in yet. I guess I should have figured that the car would use the ABS sensors to detect wheelspin for the TC. Wonder why it doesn't do it turning left?

Why would you unplug a sensor? If you want to disable ABS at the track, just pull the fuse for it. It's #12 in the front box.

Yeah what simba said.

So yeah anyone who reads this thread, don't do do the ecu reset procedure, you're more than welcome to call me and i'll help you figure out the real issue.

Normally the ABS disables itself after a short while if it doesn't see both front wheels moving, i've never tried it with just one.

Hi Charlie
My car has been running well since my problem in June. ABS seems to be functioning fine, do you think I have a problem. I now have an OBD scanner and it shows no fault codes.
Thanks
Richard
PS I love the VF stage 1. And I am going off to help fit your Gotham 265 tune to Paul G's Exige S this morning.

No its just a car by car thing, that reset procedure does other things too, so i just want to make sure people just don't do it willy-nilly

I was under the impression that if you pull the ABS fuse, you lose the speedo. Unplugging the sensor is just as easy since I'm changing wheels/tires for the track anyway.

Remembering to plug the sensor back in is seemingly the hard part. . .
