But it did come with that "Rich Corinthian leather" (imagine my best Ricardo Montalban accent)

It was actually soft Corinthian leather but it's almost always mis-quoted as rich...

CR is great for reliability and such reporting, but haven't been very good with the "fun factor" on several cars.

Cheers,

Consumer Reports' Auto Test Center is in East Haddam, Connecticut. Call their facility, 860.537.0763, and ask for Jake Fisher. Jake is their resident track rat. Aside from racing on his own time, Jake spends most of his days at CR on the facility's state of the art setup. Riding shotgun as Jake drifted a Yaris through a corner, clipping the apex and accelerating for the next one was all the proof I needed that I still have so much to learn. Anyway, Jake is a car enthusiast to the bone. Call him and ask him what he thought of the Elise. Then ask him why CR wrote what they wrote.

Has anyone spoken to him about this? Would love to hear what he has to say about the review.

Thanks

I've read the article, and a friend works at CR.
The comments were actually spot-on and accurate - BUT the car is so focused that it may not appeal to many in any sort of broad sense -

Believe it or not, there are a bunch of cars nuts at CR, big time.

Yes, I said this many pages ago. It was an accurate report.

Consumer Reports are fine for TV's, DVD players, CPU's etc... i.e. household appliances, but it's the wrong source for evaluating the overall value, drivability, agility, reponsiveness, etc... of a sports car like the Elise. Having owned a wide variety of cars, including sports cars, this is by far the most thrilling and enjoyable to drive!
In terms of comfort, I've driven it over 1,000 miles over the past 13 days alone: LA to San Diego to Phoenix and all around each of these towns and was never uncomfortable. Getting in and out of it (which I had read was a real concern/complaint)... hell, by the 2nd day, it was totally second nature... easy. No issue... unless perhaps someone is too large or out of shape to climb in and out of either side.

In addition, in the 80's Consumer Reports highly recommended the Renault Alliance: sturdy...safe...reliable... dependable... great buy... etc. Because of these stellar reviews, my brother decided to by one. It was the biggest piece of $hit he ever owned! He ended up calling it the "defective appliance" and couldn't wait to finally rid himself of that collection of junk Thanks Consumer Reports!

I officially give up.

When logic fails, so does my interest/patience.

This is Consumer Reports. For the average consumer.

Not Niche Sports Car Reports.
