Elise S on Fifth Gear yesterday

Yesterdays episode of Fifth Gear had an entertaining segment on the Elise S (the less powerful version that Lotus isn't offering in the USA). They put the host's sister, who had no track experience, behind the wheel and the host instructed her sister to see how well she could drive the car after just an afternoon of track instruction. Conclusion was that it's the perfect beginners track car. There's a torrent of the entire show for download here: http://www.mininova.org/get/448997.

The Elise is actually available in 3 variants:

Elise - Japan only 120hp (last of Rover K series
Elise S - 134hp
Elise R - 189hp

Exige currently has two variants

Exige - 189hp
Exige S - 220hp

So you can see how Lotus have left room for potential exige R. So no suffix is lowest, S is faster, R is fastest.

'Cause we only get the one model, so they don't differentiate it. The different model names are used everywhere else since there are two or three variants available.

The Exige Cup, not sold for street legal use, is pretty much the same as the 240R with the addition of a cockpit configured for racing and the deletion of some items not necessary for racing. As far as the drivetrain goes, it's pretty much the same car, right?
