Insurance is pretty much a scam for some cars. My 10 year old E46 cost me about 135 a month for 100/300 coverage... high coverage but I had to match the collector policy on the Evora... That's pretty much the lowest I could find... So I decided to call and put insurance on my imaginary new 2012 750i... and it comes out to 148/month... both these numbers are pretty much across the board from most insurance companies.... I feel like I'm getting ass raped with my old bimmer.

Ephc,
What Lotus do you have? I'm trying to get a better picture; I would imagine the Evora and the Eliges will be very different in price because of engine displacement as well as replacement values. Thx. |

Here is another Canadian's pain. Comparing or listening to American insurance is like having salt poured into wounds. Oh my, what are they going to complain about next?!? High gasoline prices?
Just kidding my american friends, I love you. I buy all my gasoline and milk from you, and I do NOT leave my old shoes in your parking lots.I live in the Niagara Falls area (L3B) postal code, 35 yrs old, married, multi policy (home & auto), 06 Elise, 03 Subaru WRX, and 06 Matrix. Elise is a "pleasure vehicle" with limited km's, $1000 deductible, comp and collision during the summer = $110 a month ($1300/yr). During the winter, I reduce to comprehensive only when it's in storage.

Thx. Good to have another data point.
I've just come to accept the fact that the cost will be whatever it will be... Not much in my control... Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com Free App |

My S4 is $600 a year and my 2011 Elise SC is $550 a year, comprehensive 2-way with $250 deductible fire/theft/vandalism. I'm 36, fairly clean driving record with no accidents. I'm in Montreal, Quebec Canada. When I called for a used 911, I was quoted $3000 a year. I don't know what the deal is there, especially considering how many million 911s are littering the city I live in (cheap parts must be everywhere).

I'm age 54 and pay about $1400 per year with RBC. Mine is a 2009 Elise. It is listed as my primary car with 20,000 km per year usage.

$1400 a year and that includes 2 other cars on my policy besides my 2006 Elise. GEICO.
AAA was $2800 a year, but they have really cheap collector car insurance so I kept my '61 Lincoln with them. |

$800 in Montreal as an occasional car with no limit. I'm 52 with a reasonably good record. Not spotless, but reasonable :-)
