just returned, had fun

I drove the Exige up to North Idaho in June and returned to Silicon Valley on Wednesday night. I drove the 1025 miles straight through, 16 hours, and less than 340 songs on my iPod. (No, I do not generally speed on long trips as it reduces the anxiety.)

Idaho was great. I live outside of Hope and shop in Sandpoint. The car gathered a crowd every time I stopped. It reminded me of when the car first arrived in America. Got lots of comments about adding a receiver hitch and hauling logs. For those of you that worry about rock nicks and scratches, you should avoid the state. I believe my car is meant to be driven and just enjoy the roads, no matter what they do to my car.

I did try and drive one logging road. It was a bit funny as I cornered around each pot hole. I quickly gave up and took the family van to go huckleberrying.

I highly recommend the Pend Orielle area, nice place to spend the summer...

Michael

I am here in Boise and just brought in a 2005 Elise with 4000 miles on it in from Portland this last Friday. It's silver and I store it in the parking garage across from Cash and Carry. I look forward to speaking/meeting other owners and sharing experiences!

As far as mods it has the sport pack with a stage 2 exhaust. Just ordered in a stealth box and new tires for it today.

I am growing more and more in love with my Lotus each day. I would not mind testing it out on a track sometime soon......

I have an '05 BRG Elise with a Forcedfed turbo on it and to many other mods to list. I use it for local autocross, which it is great at, and a bunch of us routinely go down to Miller Motorsports park in Utah or PIR in Portland for track days. Good to have you.

Slaughtr, your car is too fast for the paint to even hold on :-)

Cosmo- he's lying, we're all just pompus ex-corvette owners who do nothing but pine over how things used to be... lol

nah, the Boise crowd (and pretty most all Lotus owners) are pretty good guys, good to have another one in town.

Unfortunately, my car is sitting in the garage right now without a brain. It's waiting for a Charlie X transplantation next week. So, I have to drive the Rossion instead.

Look at BOE's kit. Everything I've bought from Phil has worked out great. Plus, he's always there to talk...even for things he's not selling me. I can't say enough good things about him.

I have never heard of a Rossion till now but after checking it out that car looks awesome. I will do more research and feel sheepish for never hearing of them.

I would love to check out your car sometime. I used to have a 91 Toyota MR2 Turbo and although it was not in the same league as the Lotus I loved that car and I do miss the feel/anticipation of the turbo kicking in. I was wondering about the practicability of adding a turbo in regards to performance, price and reliability and where/how it can be done. It puts a grin on my face just thinking about having a turbo-ed auto again.....

Well it's officially been a week since I picked up the lady.. and I am growing to love her more and more every day. I am finally starting to figure out a half practical/non ridiculous looking way of entering and exiting her which is tough for me being a 250 lb guy. I am also starting to grow increasingly indifferent to the constant thumbs up and smiles I am getting - except from the ladies .

Anyway, to celebrate our 1 week anniversary I bought the lady a stealthbox and an exceptional 4 channel Alpine amp and I am amazed at the quality of sound it produces. I have had many different setups with larger and more powerful speakers but this setup feels just about right and the bass resonates very well with the sub in the front passenger foot well. I am just getting ready to make my bi-monthly drive to Idaho Falls this weekend and I am actually looking forward to it for the first time since I started doing it 4 years ago for work.

So if you hear someone bumping the Beatles you will know who it is now.

There's a technique to getting in and out that is easy, once learned. I'll have to hear that subwoofer sometime.
