Locals, what SC/Turbo kit would you prefer
Its a little early but I want to start my research into supercharging/Turbo'ing the elise sometime next year. There are a few kits around that offer different avenues of approach.
Forcefed seems like the best so far. Offering the most horsepower out of a stage one turbo kit. Horsepower: 275 Torque: 200 @ $ 7,450.00 Vision Function Supercharger Kit. Seems pretty decent and is slightly cheaper offering slightly less hp then the Forcefed Horsepower: 245 Torque: 162 @ $6300 Katana Supercharger looks like the cheapest with the smallest gain. Horsepower: 215 Torque: 141 Custom build, select my own parts which in turn could end up cheaper but probably a lot of welding would be involved and finding parts where I wouldn't have to alter the body.

I've been very happy with my katana kit. In my opinion, the amount of power it produces compliments the handling of the car perfectly. Enough to be a hell of alot of fun but not too much to make the car off balance. Plus, support from Sector 111 has been great. I purchased a relatively early kit and when they had discovered that the pulley they sent with it was not up to the task, they sent out a new one w/belt before I had the chance to ask them about it. It gets a
from me. good luck

Seems like all of a sudden there are a LOT of choices. I think I'll just sit back and see which one works.....then I'll buy.
The VF looks nice .....although a little out of the price range.. I like Turbophils setup....but I don't know how that's priced. Katana seems fairly bug free at a great price...but not as much HP as the other kits.... anyone else confused yet ?? ![]() ![]()

Don't forget turbophil's TVS kit is soon on the horizon. In fact, FedEx just dropped of a large box at my office.

You also left of Lotus "soon to be here any day now" bolt on supercharger kit too. I'm sure it will look under powered and over priced but for many of us, the ability to maintain warranty is a huge selling point.

point taken![]() MJF, I don't have a warrenty so that's not an issue I'm pretty much looking for the best ratio of quality, power, and price. Also if I ever consider going to like a stage 2 some day, I'd have to keep in mind if the kit I choose has a stage 2 upgrade.

Good luck with it!A nice thing about the TVS kit is it's state-of-the-art. It's a very efficient supercharger design and pumps big power/torque without an intercooler. With an intercooler, a clutch would be a minimum manditory upgrade.I saw the same design supercharger in a Parnelli Jones Saleen Mustang and the guy said he was getting around 600hp with it. I was suprised that it was that high. I thought more like 550? Don't know if it was intercooled or what pulley. |

I didn't even realise TurboPhil was making superchargers until I read this poll though. link here: BOEFabrication.com | Beyond Original Equipment claims "275 wheel horse power and 175 wheel torque" which seems more than adequate. I'd default to going with guys that have done so much for the community like TurboPhil and CharlieX, which if I understand it right means TVS of VF. |

Don't forget that the FF275 turbo package you are referring to does not include an engine management solution. Also, the 275 horsepower from that package is at the engine, whilst the rest you listed are at the wheels. The FF is about 230-245 at the wheels.

Don't forget though, that the peak and low rev torque figures are much better in the turbo setups.

The base VF kit makes more than 245whp for sure!
There's also the VF stage II which is around 300whp and 190+ wheel-torque... great numbers!
