Lotus + Ferry???
Does the Exige have any issues with getting on and off the Bremerton Ferry??? I ask cause soon as I'm back it's to the tracks for me and I don't want to drive back to Seattle in traffic after all the driving I'm doing during the day.

I go on the Bainbridge ferry frequently and its generally fine other than extremely low tides in which case there is a small chance of scraping the underside of front clam (going slow and at slight angle will resolve.)
My car is lowered with side aero skirts that drop ground clearance another 1 1/2" so I need to be careful if I end uop on the side upper area (getting over top of ramp. Stock Elise would not have this problem. |

I don't think you'll get on the ferry comfortably... Bremerton ferry has a huge dip and I was even saying that if I had my lotus with me... I would definitely rub.

I think it has alot to do with the tide. No way i'd recommend trying at low tide otherwise you're asking for trouble. I went on the boat a few times on the Edmonds ferry and had no problems. Tide was relatively high when I went however.

While I do not use the ferry nearly as often as Tim, I do use it occasionally heading out of Edmonds. I have an '06 Exige at the stock ride height. I have never had a problem getting on or off. I do get that "oh, this is going to be...close" feeling. I am not sure that I have ever hit it during a low tide.
Contrary to what Speedneed posted, (though I know he jests) I would take care about scraping the bottom of this car more than others. As you know, there are many very small bolts that hold the under panels in place. If I have did bottom out/high center the car, I'd be sure to inspect these. Having an under panel tear loose at 130 would likely have dire consequences. |
