CO Speeding Ticket

So, my first ticket in 5 years. 65 in a 50 the ticket says and I'm dead certain it was more like 55-58. Court date is in 3 weeks, I'm just hoping since I haven't had a ticket in so long this will get pushed to probation. Just need to vent really, but if you guys have any advice I'm all ears.

You look like a good source of revenue. They want money. You can probably work a deal to pay more to not have points or something similar.

My advice is to lube up!

Well... 0 points - obstructed window, $150 fine, $20 court fee, $10 "donation" and $75 for the "alive at 25" class. Kinda expensive but my insurance rates won't go up.

Congrats, the 0 points is the most important thing here! What'd you do to get the ticket to that point?

Where abouts in CO do you live, we are in Littleton. Just curious where we should be "paying more attention." Good luck!

The attorney came back with it reduced to a broken headlight - 1 point. But I waited, talked with them and said 0 points and I'll take a class. So i talked myself into 4.5 hours of hell, but an obstructed window looks better on my driving record.

As for where you need to look out. I fell victim to Colorado Springs PD's current attempt to fleece it's citizens for all it can. I understand they have a job to do, but the 7 million they collected in fines last year is a bit much.

Wondering if their fiscal year ends in June, like a lot of other cities. Seems like a lot of ticky tack violations as of late all over.

i got pulled over on I 70 outside of Denver for driving in the left lane??? Apparently you shouldn't drive in the left lane unless it is for passing. Well I was passing several cars and speeding at the time. Very odd situation. If you are driving from out of state how in the heck would you know of such a law? BTW I was in a Tribeca

42-4-1013 (1) - Passing Lane (Left Lane Law) " A person shall not drive a motor vehicle in the passing lane of a highway if the speed limit is sixty-five miles per hour or more unless such person is passing other motor vehicles that are in a nonpassing lane or turning left, or unless the volume of traffic does not permit the motor vehicle to safetly merge into a nonpassing lane."

http://www.dot.state.co.us/Publicati...nebrochure.pdf

This is common courtesy everywhere, and there are signs all along the interstates in Colorado that say, "Slower traffic keep right" and "Keep right except to pass", or something like that. I counted 25 signs between Denver and Colorado Springs once (about 60 miles). You can check states with left lane laws here:

http://www.driverightpassleft.com/laws/index.asp

Illinois makes it illegal to drive in the left lane of an interstate highway for more than one-half mile. (Violators can be fined $79). (http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/12/31/ne....ap/index.html)

IMHO, it's one of the best laws on the books, but unfortunately it isn't enforced very regularly. Sorry you got caught, but when used the flow of traffic is dramatically improved.

We have signs telling slower traffic to keep right.

Besides, as Rich says, it's common courtesy and it's also safer for other motorists (it's more dangerous to have to pass someone on the right than the left, for various reasons).

I was passing and speeding. I could see getting pulled over for the latter but it wasnt even mentioned. BTW, I wish they would enforce that law more often.
