Dealer Service in Texas

So, I have freaking had it!

Where are you guys taking your cars for service and warranty work? Is the Austin dealer still open? How about San Antonio or Houston?

One of these days I'll share some stories about our infamous DFW dealer. I'm sure none of it will be shocking to those who have been there...but probably more than enough to make you

In the past, Star Motor Cars in Houston left a LOT to be desired when it came to service.

Recently, they picked up a new service manager who is apparently on top of his game.

Nikko had a supercharger installed a couple weeks back and said the difference in the level of service is night and day.

So, if you're willing to make the drive they may be your shop.

If you don't want to work with the dealerships try Garth, (ex Star chief Lotus mechanic), at Jagsport International in houston.
Garth is an excellent Lotus mechanic and knows his stuff.

Gonzaba San Antonio has had a checkered past but sense Joe Stubblefield has taken over things have improved BIG TIME. For non warranty issues or performance stuff I have been very impressed with SOULSPEED in Austin.

He's not a dealer so if you're looking for warranty work look good luck, but if not get in touch with Jay Choi (he lives in Houston now but goes to Austin from time to time).. he can do almost anything on for the elise/exige and is VERY reasonable pricewise and will take the time to followup and support his work! He has installed countless supercharger kits, clutches/flywheels etc.. Myself and many others on LT will highly recommend him.

2nd Joe is just plain awesome. No complaints with them whatsoever. Never went pre-joe though so can't comment on earlier service.

What about warranty work? I think several people in Dallas are going to start taking weekend road trips to get warranty stuff taken care of.

We can handle any routine maintenance or mods at SoulSpeed. Jay also does really nice work and is a good guy. For warranty work I'd recommend John Eagle, I was out there yesterday and David has the shop looking really good.

+1

Jasper and the guys at SoulSpeed for anything non-warranty related. I went to John Eagle in Austin (well their service is really in Cedar Park) for some random warranty work and was very impressed.

Just going by my 'cleanliness of shop' metric both of these places score high.

An added benefit of going to John Eagle is seeing all of the Bentleys and Aston Martins and the beautiful Bentley service tool chest

Performance Speed Tech at MSR Cresson is familiar with the lotus and does a nice job with routine work and straighforward mods. I had them install the RTD brace on our Exige and do an alignment. I have also have had tires shipped to them for mounting. Good guys who understand performance car set up and have worked on a fair number of lotus.

I hear you about the Dallas dealer. There is a reason I bought our car in Austin, even though we live in dallas.

Hah, Overseas in Dallas loses yet another customer. I really don't understand how they're still around as a viable business.

I took my car to John Eaglr in August for an oil change. They realized the warranty was up in October and went over the whole car. Fixed several warranty items I never even thought to worry about. Start switch was lit sometimes and sometimes not, plus a couple of other small issues. Best service that I have ever got from a dealer.

If I need anything that Soulspeed deals with I would not hesitate to take it to them.

Both places are trustable and competent.
