I just came back from Austin dealership for weatherstrip replacement. Wind Noice has significantly reduced. Good job, Thomas! And thank you so much for David's great service.

Thanks for the heads up. I will give them a call and see what I can get done without having to drive back and forth to get work done.

Joe Stubblefield and Otto, ,(excellent Lotus tech), in San Antonio, have handled my warranty work and the recent installation of my Lotus supercharger kit. They have done a great job for me and I am very pleased with their work. Prior to Joe, I was disappointed in Gonzaba, but Joe has changed that for me. I can handle most basic maintenance work myself.
I have not had any service experience with Charlie and the guys at Eagle, but I have met them and they appear to know their stuff. I think you would be happy with either company.

Is your negative comment about Gonzaba pre Stubbelfield ? If so you might want to give them a re-think. Joe is amazing and has turned that shop around in the past year. My .02

You can maybe try Eurosport in Plano, not sure if they do Lotus or not. Oil changes are easy just DIY.

Unhappy Cross your fingers for me...

Well, this thread certainly qualifies for the "If Only I'd Seen This Earlier" category.

I just dropped my new 2007 Exige S off at Overseas for its 1,000 mile service along with a punch list of mostly minor irritations (below). Susan, the service tech, was/is extremely helpful, albeit apparently pretty new to the dealership. I didn't actually meet the Lotus tech (although there may not be one according to this thread).

She just quoted me $525 for the prescribed maintenance, which seems extortive, to put it politely. I'd have done the oil change (etc.) myself if the ECU dump wasn't required.

Any feedback on the cost or what I should expect would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible. Thank you!

Oh, here's my service list (yes, I know some of these items are covered in the Uberpost; I just think with only 1,000 miles on the clock some of this stuff should be handled by Lotus):

General
Perform 1,000 mile service

Hard Top
Crashing sound from hard top
Weatherstripping around hard top
Hard top fitting in general
Hard top leaking at passenger rear corner

Interior
Rattle behind seats
Carpet on driver’s side wall loose
Loose shifter
Climate control fan speed knob not oriented properly
Steering wheel leather separating (9 o’clock and bottom)
Steering wheel emblem corroded
Windows rattle and crash when rolled all the way down

Exterior
Loose front indicator light(s)
Condensation in driver’s side headlight
Stress crack on rear deck
Outward crack on driver’s door
Faded center caps on wheels (fronts)
Edges of StarShield lifting

Mechanical
Intermittent stalling at idle
Engine rattle when engaging clutch
Uneven idle
Starting: sometimes strong, sometimes rough

Make sure they do a full brake fluid flush at the 1k mark otherwise Lotus USA will void your brake warranty from then out. Proof must be in writing, the word of the sales guy or service manager is not good enough apparently.

Ugh. That sucks about Overseas Motors. Not good to hear about how they treat their customers OR their employees. Noted.

I haven't had anything major done as of yet, but the few maintenance needs I had were handled by Sam & Joes, and I was pretty satisfied. They're located between Arlington and Ft. Worth.

Thank you!!! I'll let you know what they say. I have a feeling it'll be... interesting.

Thanks for the tip on Sam and Joe's. I'll check 'em out. Do they perform Lotus warranty work?

Love the list. Can't wait to hear what they actually fix. Guessing you will get a lot of

Yeah, you're probably right, but what the hell. I'd just like to get it tweaked to its optimal state, whatever that is. I fully expect to deal with many of these myself.

Not sure, as mine is not under warranty (Anyone know much about the extended ones you can purchase? Any ones to avoid?).

Give them a call or email about it. :-)

I'd stay away from the 3rd party warranty companies. One of the car magazines just did an article on them and it was not flattering. They all have "F" ratings by the BBB. US Fedilas for instance already has over 3,000 complaints against them. Basically they take your money and when you have a claim they denied based on the fine print in the contract. For instance, one of their customers had a fuel pump fail but they refused to cover it because their warranty only covers mechanical failures and they claimed the fuel pump failed due to an electrical failure.
