Thanks for the welcome folks, nice to know there are other folks around here interested in something other than drag racing and big spoilers...
HEY!!! What's wrong with big spoilers???

whoops sorry, forgot it was a lotus forum!

Just kidding, while I mentioned that I have more autocross experience and downforce isn't a big factor there, any track-worthy street legal car with a curb weight as low as an elise merits a functional spoiler...

I just hate when I see aftermarket ones on mechanically-stock grocery getters that still think stoplight racing is cool

This site may cut into my other-toy budget soon, my wife recently became a 70's-80's Porsche 911 fan but I may be able to convince her that a nice watercooled 80's esprit turbo would be soooo much more reliable...

Turk, think about this for a minute. If you convince her to get the Lotus and it takes a dump (more likely than not), you are on the hook for it 100%. Even if she does not say anything, you're still in the doghouse.

Get her whatever 70-80's 911 she wants. Just be thankful she has good taste in picking out the car of her affection. That vintage 911 are nice looking, you can get a very nice driver for not much $$$ and they are pretty easy to work on. The best part is if it take s dump on her, it won't be 100% your fault. If you wrench on it it might be 99% your fault, but she'll still forgive you because it's an old car, your saving money, etc...

Be thankful that she has not fallen in love with something like a early 80's 240D Mercedes like my better half did. For whatever reason she simply LOVED that car. Those things are tanks, but working on them is a super PITA because you get so dirty. But that's another story....

Be smart on this one bro., get her the 911 and everyone will be much better off...

Can't make this event as I'll be up at Eagles Canyon that weekend:

TDE-Eagles Canyon July 11-12

which after completion will give me seat time at all the regional tracks (excluding Texas Motor Speedway) and potential locales for the upcoming LCS South series.

You should at least stop by to see folks. I'm pretty sure you could get a ride or two if you wanted to.

I find it depressing if I can't drive. That's what I really want to do! But it would be cool to meet some of you guys.

Haha I like this site. No I won't lie to my wife ! , we'll find her an old 911 and I'll get myself a broken-down Esprit track toy someday. My poor GTO does double duty right now (DD and fun car) and sometimes it breaks my heart (stop and go traffic, door dings, blech).

So I probably won't make it to H2R this coming weekend. How do I keep tabs on their next couple events? I had heard of Eagles Canyon before too, that would also work I spose.

And yes, I know the stories of the Three Sisters from the motorcycle guys- They're all sick of Houston roads too!

Barry, James, Scott, Rich, Alex (did I miss anyone?) bring your lawn chairs. I'll bring my tent. We'll cook like little roasted chickens out there between heats (it's going to be around 100).

Have fun guys...

Ya'll have some good ol' fashioned hot but fun driving out there. Drink lots of water and be safe in this heat. That dehydration thing can sneak up on you and suddenly your missing shifts / turn-in points / braking points and your off in the weeds chasing rabbits.
