Lotus Challenge Series - Texas style
One of my fellow signees noted that I left the Texas bit out of the title in the original posting with regards to having the LSC here in Texas.
We now have about 5 people signed up to participate in this event but still need another 18 or so to make it happen. The write up and LCS website info are in the earlier LCS posting so I will not repeat it here. Come on you Texas Lotus drivers, get on board. Here's a chance to get into a series that actually issues prizes and is dedicated to Lotus only cars. How cool is that? The first year starts off easy with competition being in the form of time trials. It also allows the organizers to see how well we do and if it is safe and practical to advance to wheel to wheel competition. You all have been doing HPD events for a couple of years now, it's time to kick it up a notch and go for the bragging rights that could rightfully be yours. Not to mention that when competition is involved the fun factor kicks up a notch. Ask any who race in organized competition. If you have any questions email me and I will direct you to the LCS website where you ca get all the details and registration info, or just check out the previous LCS posting. Hope to see you out there in 09. Al B |

Al,
I think if we start a list of interested people on this thread we (the LT community) might have a better idea if we're getting anywhere close to the required number. I'll give it a go: 1. Shine 2.

Hello from lcs headquarters,
I am excited to bring the series to the south. As Al said, we need 23 participants to make the series work. As we get closer to the number i will start putting together a schedule for 2009. My goal is to have 6-8 events and possibly have a combined lcs south and west event crowning champions in each class. 2008 was our first year of the series and i am sure you have read the tread on elise talk. Over 2100 posts and 60,000 views in one year. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at jplotus@yahoo.com . See you at the track ! ![]()

).When Jim first approached me about doing the LCS for 2008, I was less than enthusiastic since I do many of my own private track days with a very low car count. But, I agreed somewhat reluctantly to help out and support the series. To my great surprise and delight, I loved the series and had great fun. Also, the competition really improved my driving, as was the case for many others -- in fact, at many of the TT events, I turned my personal best lap times (in some cases, it was at tracks where I had much previous experience). Perhaps more importantly, the LCS allowed me the opportunity to meet some new Lotus people and make some enduring friendships -- that was clearly the best part of the LCS for me. Hope you guys get enough cars to make it happen. Good Luck. Photos from one our LCS events (during the practice sessions) to help get you guys "stimulated"....... ![]()

Jasper,
Thanks for the TWS link and as for the Caterham, possibly. Go to the Lotus challenge main website, I believe there is a class breakdown for cars. If not email them and ask. Considering how well those cars do as track cars I can't see why not. |

Curiously missing from the above list: Toad, Yaudi, LordZ, Doghouse, Morty, xtn, Matt in Houston, petroboy, RichS, cajunairman, Jefferson, codymac, chotto, Scott Bowman... who else? There are some seriously fast people MIA from the current LCS Texas list...so what's up?

2. harness installation - free (DIY) 3. helmet - $400 - $1000 4. fire extinguisher - $200 - $325 5. event entry fee - not set, but I'd guess around $400 I think that covers the basics.
