Autocross and Track Day Calendars.
Holidays to consider/avoid:
Sun Apr 04 Easter
Sun May 09 Mother's Day
Mon May 31 Memorial Day
Mon July 05 Independence Day
Mon Sep 06 Labor Day
Mon Oct 11 Columbus Day
Thu Nov 11 Veterans Day

Input from our Feb meeting:

Food for most events is a requirement and brewery tours are clearly a popular choice. Here are some links with some ideas for eateries included:

Possibly as part of another event like the 2009 Alfa Wachusett Run
Wachusett Brewing Company
The Old Mill

Redhook brewery - Portsmouth, NH
Woodshed Restaurant - Moultonborough, NH
The Woodshed is also in the same town as the British Cars of NH show, so that's another option.
Or, head into Maine to some place like our last visit to The Ramp - Bar & Grill

Harpoon Brewery - Windsor, VT
Farmers Diner - Quechee, VT

Newport Polo Club - USA vs Argentina is on Sep 19 which might be better for avoiding summer crowds

Overnight trips to places like The Balsams Grand Resort or Mountain View Grand Hotel were suggested:
In which case we might consider a drive down Moose Alley
  • Keep the group informed on local Cars and Coffee and similar events.
  • Check for car clubs planning a full track event at F1 Boston that we could attend.
  • Ice cream runs. From Jaffrey, NH to CT, we only need good destinations.
  • Mount Tom/Greylock Wachusett?. Something was paved recently? We'll try to find out what.
  • We talked about LOG XXX for which there seems to be a lot of interest.
  • More local social gatherings such as Firefly's.
  • Route 100 run from MA line.
  • New England towns such as Peterborough.

I need brewery suggestions throughout New England. Looking for places with good food, good driving, good parking, interesting locations nearby or along the way, etc.

Southport Brewing Company has 4 locations in CT. Branford, Milford, Stamford and Southport. Good food and great beer. Can vouch the Southport location has easy access off I-95, ample parking, quality brewed beers and good food.

I will put in a plug for my local brew pub, the Portsmouth Brewery.

Good food - check
Good beer - check in spades!
Groovy little New England town, just off Rt 95, harbor cruises & Strawberry Banke & climb thru an old submarine.

The only problem is we would need to brave the parking garage 1 block away, can't park at the actual place.

Just throwin' it out there..

Edit - I see Red Hook is suggested in the OP - that might be better. It's not in the quaint downtown, its way off on the edge of town all by itself. But parking is no problem, they have a giant parking lot, wouldn't need to brave the garage.

I love Portsmouth and go there a lot in the summer. The brewery is a great place with great food. I'm usually in the Mini when I go and parking at the garage is never a problem, but it's probably not ideal for one of our events.

Next time I'm there I'll see what parking on the roof of the garage is like on a Sunday afternoon. It might work and we could always bail out to Loco Coco's or similar if it's busy.

From UMass Lowell River Hawk Racing:
The Big Thaw Car Show at UMass Lowell is going to be held on Sunday March 28th, from 10am to 4pm (rain date Sunday, April 11th). We have up to 270 spaces available for show cars, and there will be music and food as well. The cars will be parked in every other space, allowing for plenty of room to relax, set up chairs, etc. It is being held on the corner of Pawtucket Street and Broadway Street, in the very large Riverview parking lot on UMass Lowell's South Campus. There is a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol free event, and there will be a UMass Lowell Police presence. The entry fee is $5 if you preregister, and $7 at the event; spectators are free!

Thanks, and please feel free to email me any questions that you have,

Ryan McIntosh
Event Organizer, The Big Thaw Car Show at UMass Lowell
Treasurer, UMass Lowell River Hawk Racing
978-766-5461, ryanmcintosh24@gmail.com

To preregister your vehicle(s), send an email to Ryan McIntosh (Event Organizer) at ryanmcintosh24@gmail.com. Be sure to note if you would like to be placed with a specific group or club, other than the general categories that the show is split into. Include in the email:
(1) Your name
(2) Address
(3) Phone Number
(4) Are you a student or faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Lowell?
(5) Vehicle(s) that are being entered (For each entry, include the make, model, year, whether that vehicle is stock or modified, and whether that vehicle will be brought on a trailer). The registration fee of $5 per vehicle will be collected at the event (cash only)
(6) Are you entering the event as a member of a group or club? If so, what group do you want to be placed with? We will do our best to accommodate clubs or groups of people looking to park together.

There will be a drawing for $50 cash of anyone who pre-registers their vehicle(s) by March 21st, 2010. Once we receive your registration, you will be sent a confirmation email with a registration number for the event. Print that email out and bring it with you to the event.

Added Sports Car Club of New Hampshire info to calendar.

Umass Lowell car show went well with a Type 75 on site and a great lunch afterward at Feng Shui in Chelmsford.

My pleasure.

I just added the NELLI spring drive for Lotus Ltd. members. See you on Sun Apr 25 in the CT countryside. Details to follow in the event thread.

If you're on my mailing list you should be receiving an email about this event today. We're off to a good start trying to keep at least 2 club events per month on the calendar.

I also added a link for the Herb Chambers cars and coffee.

With BCD at Larz and BBTS at Harness a touch soggy, attendance was equally dismal. Normally among the most well attended events in the Northeast Lotus community, we can only hope the Northeast Exotic Car show (NECS) sees sunshine.

There is however another opportunity to gather at a similar type of show. Two weeks prior to the NECS, is the BCNH weekend gathering in Wolfeboro, NH. I'm suggesting we go on Sunday Aug 8. We can attend breakfast at the show and maybe head to the Woodshed afterward for dinner. If at least 5 Lotus attend they'll create a class for Lotus. I'd like to get 10 so we can have pre-Esprit & post-Europa awards. If you pre-register let me know so I can make that happen!

We missed a May drive, but June isn't over. I'm trying to piece something together for Seacoast, NH into southern, ME. Anyone familiar with nice roads in the vicinity of the blue route in the link below, please contact me.
