Is he running a shorty or race header? I see WR has both.

BM is funny...... When I say him earlier, he was actually wearing two t-shirts (at the same time). He had a different one at the Dyno session. Then, I guess the pink one came on during the wine run (which I didn't attend). Jezz, I haven't worn a pink shirt since the 80's. Not bashing, to each is own.... your a regular Cher with the wardrobe changes!

Here Are My Dyno Plots

The first graph show's total HP & TQ (~203 / 146), the second has the AF's which are running rich on boost (low to mid 11's).

These values are different then my previous two dyno's but we all understand the variability seen with dynamometers (mustang, dyno jet, weather infuences, etc..).

The #'s may seem low for an SC elise. However, if you were to drive my car, it sure as hell doesn't feel low (as a couple of folks who were in & drove my car can attest to).

The most impt part for me is that my car is running great & as you can see from the graphs, AF's are safe (considering I track the car) and I have room to dial in additional power gains if / when I choose.

Thumbs up Just Wanted To Say Thanks...

To Dustin & the folks at No Limit Motorsports for setting up this dyno day. This was the most efficient dyno experience I've had to date! Dustin had our cars on & off the dynamometer in no time. Clearly, he's been doing this for some time & apparently, the shop has a lot of experience tuning / upgrading the 2ZZ engine.

It was great seeing everyone on Saturday & am looking forward to our next NE run.

BTW, I also have a bit of a farmer's tan. No red face, just red arms with short sleeves...

That's true. He was very quick in getting cars in and out. I thought it'd take all day based on my past experiences

I must say, I've never had a car dyno'd before, but it was pretty cool. Dustin, you were pretty quick and helpful. You also backed those elises onto the dyno like you've done this everyday for the past several years.

Also, my brother was still impressed by his bwm run. Who woulda thought he would have that much hp in such a little engine. Now all he has to do is loose like 1400 lbs.

Dom I'd be a little worried about that A/F ratio before the cam change. Hitting 14 is way to lean considering the amount of boost at that point while on the low cam.

There's something odd beyond just the dyno with those graphs. The TQ curves are goofy, as is the HP... I think you've got an issue that may be related to your tune with that bad AFR line. You need to fix your AFRs and then redyno to see the real story. Perhaps you have a dirty MAF, bad coil, or plugs if not the tune. Don't be happy just because your car is pig-rich- safe. That graph should be a sign that you need to do some diagnoses... You can use a thermo gun to shoot your headers to be sure that you're not mis-firing, dumping fuel into your exhaust. Dbl check that your belt is not slipping too.. If you determine no belt slip, no misfire, and sensors are feeding the right information, then it's time to investigate the tune...

If you think your car feels good now, wait till you get whatever issue you've got there sorted out

Good luck,

Phil

Thanks Phil! Much of this is still new to me & am learning as I go along. I appreciate the input & will look into your suggestions.

The plugs are new & should be fine, but I'll look at them again.

I'm not aware of any misfires. If so, wouldn't that throw a CEL?

The alt bracket has been changed & the belt is tight (so I do not think it's slipping).

What would cause the dumping of fuel into the exhaust?

I'll shoot a message to Tony at PES.

Thanks Again!

You're welcome... I'm stretching a bit on the fuel dump, as it's not very likely... Using a thermo gun (can be sourced from longacre, they're pretty cheap and useful for all sorts of things) you can shoot each header runner and see if one of them is considerably cooler than the other. That would tell you if you're getting an incomplete burn in a particular jug. That's not the most likely, but possible...
The other is to make sure your MAF is clean. If running an after-mkt filter, the oils can dirty the MAF a bit. Some MAF cleaning spray could be helpful here.
Check/replace your 02 sensor as well (how many miles are on your car? Ever run leaded race gas? If answers are low and no, then 02 likely not a problem)...

A new belt won't ensure that it's not slipping... see if there's enough room in the tensioner to put on a .5" smaller belt, if so give it a try. You may have some slipping. If none of those things cure your problem, you've likely got a tuning issue...

Best,

Phil
