Lotus on My Lawn

I thought it might be nice to have a Philadelphia area "Lotus on my Lawn" get-together at my house before the end of summer. Having met just a couple of nice fellow Elisers since getting our AR, we look forward to meeting many more. I have a fantasy of seeing a horde of Elises (or other Loti) parked all over the driveway and front yard. Talk about a good photo op!

The date would be Sunday, August 28th (weather permitting) and anyone within driving distance of Downingtown, PA (about 30 miles west of Philadelphia) would be welcome along with as many passengers as would fit in their Lotus.

It would be a low key, casual, sit on the deck, eat, and swim type of thing with several local driving routes planned out for anyone interested in exploring. Figure on arriving anytime from late morning onward with eating/swimming starting about noon. I’ll have some burgers, dogs, and chicken to throw on the grill as well as most other related supplies. Attendees could volunteer to bring an appetizer, snack, salad, side dish, or dessert if they wanted. Anyone can feel free to slip off for spirited driving whenever the urge strikes.

I’m posting this invite on both the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, since we’re located on the cusp. I know that August is a busy month for most people, but we’d be happy to host if there’s any interest. I’ll send detailed directions to confirmed attendees as the date approaches.

This thread was getting lonely, so as I'm on the other side of Philadelphia (in Langhorne) I thought I'd reply on this one.

Count me as a definite maybe.

I ran into you today and can probably swing by after I'm done racing that day. Whereabouts are you in Downingtown?

We have these in Kentucky, but it's "Ford on my lawn" and they stay on the lawn year round.

I am happy to announce that Clyde Shepherd will be attending the event this Sunday at Larry and Deb's. Clyde holds the position of After Sales Administrator for Lotus Cars USA. He is very well known by many on this forum as one of the most knowledgeable individuals in the US regarding Lotus and especially the Elise. Please come out and help welcome him.

Don't forget to PM Larry to RSVP and be sure to bring a salad or dessert. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Late Morning (say 11:30 or so) until late afternoon (give or take). I'll be leaving to take Clyde bck to the airport around 4:30 or so.

Good! I can get there around 2-3 PM, but I'll have to unload the car from the trailer in race trim for the lawn photo. No worries!!

Brandywine Airport is 6 1/4 miles away. If you guys fly in, I'll come get you.

I just got home after the 10+ hour drive from Maine, but I'll get rested up and will come with Jerry after the autocross in Philly tomorrow.
