New Jersey Motorsports Park (aka Thunderbolt Raceway)

http://www.njmotorsportspark.com/

Does everyone in the area know about this upcoming facility?

It looks like it will be pretty nice. And close for a lot of us.

That will be great. Wonder what will finish first, Millville or the road course at Old Bridge.

If you can afford the Alpine Signature membership fee it's very good. The Associate membership is pretty lame, "Includes Eight (8) Driver-Days on the Road Course Per Season".

Signature Membership Initiation Fee: $3,000 One-Time Fee
Signature Membership Deposit: $30,000 One-Time, 75% Refundable Deposit
Signature Membership Annual Dues: $4,000 Per Season

Associate Membership Fee: $5,000 One-Time Fee
Associate Membership Annual Dues: $1,500 Per Season

I believe they are still looking for investors too.

On a separate note, is there an equivalent to something like the Nurburgring in the Northeast where you can pay a fee and they space out runs for the public?

Heard an interesting rumor from a friend in SCCA. Summit Point may close and turn in to a federal training facility only. That would mean that MARRS and other events now at Summit would move to Thunderbolt.

Thunderbolt

PDA is having an HPDE at Thunderbolt on Aug 5-6 and another one on Oct 15th. They also scheduled an HPDE at the Lightning course on Oct 16th and a couple more events at this track in November. Check out their schedule:

Can't wait,

Forget about the road course at Englishtown. Even if they open it, its more like a go kart course. NJMP is the real deal and will be open around June. There is already a full schedule of events for it.

Thunderbolt

I went to a car event over the weekend and the marketing director from Thunderbolt made a presentation. Both road courses look very nice. They have big plans spread out over 3 phases. First phase opens in June. Later phases include trackside condos, larger event garages, etc. Personal memberships have a $10,000 initiation and $2,500 fee/year. Too steep for me. Of course if I sold the Elise.......now that wouldn't make any sense would it?

Hey,
Don't forget about the Monticello Motor Club,that's opening at the end of July.
PDA should have a date on the schedule for the fall.

Yes, we HAD planned to visit NJMSP last weekend, but got put on HOLD because they didn't want "civilians" messing with/delaying the construction workers.

== DREAM SEQUENCE #1 ==

*Elise Owner* Hey buddy, is that heavy ol' earthmover any good in the corners?
*Burly Construction Dude* If you got your pink slip, we can find out! GRRR.

So, we are considering letting the dust settle and visiting the facility in August during a planned SVRA meet. Kyle Kaulback of PALS will be racing his Lotus that day. We are considering a tent and having a cookout.

== DREAM SEQUENCE #2 ==

*Race Spectator*: Hey that new Lotus is HOT!
*Exige Owner* If you think this is hot, check out my Charcoal!

== GROAN ==

Stay Tuned!

I'm coordinating an event there on Oct 21 & 22 for the Audi Club. You are all welcome to attend however you would need to join the club as an associate member due to our insurance policy. The cost will be $375 + $44/yr membership for 2 days.
