Thanks for posting it would have been such a waste to show up and be wondering where everyone was. Sept 19 is a PALS Event day, so I probably won't make the open house. Frustrating that your inquiries have met with no response, but frankly not surprising. Like I posted earlier, I'll beleive it when I see it.

Kyle, if you were to go tomorrow, where would you go? Do you have their address?

A few years ago all of the other properties in the area had protest placards stuck in their lawns. THey are for the most part gone. I beleive they are generating some income by allowing camping on site at present. If you look at the track map on their site and then compare it to an aerial map you can see where the entry is located.

I am still planning on attending. A couple of my staff will likely be in attendance as well. I'm still disappointed that no one seems to be able to return emails or voicemail. It's getting me to the point of questioning their sincerity with regards to the project.

I felt the same way but at least they posted the address now. Hope they will actually go ahead with this.

I am divided between this and Kevin's party. Really depends on weather (should be good so in favor of Kevein) and how my son - who has a cold - is doing. I'll post in the AM if I am going. No post tomorrow=no show.

Yeah, I'm also debating whether to go. Its a two hours drive for me but I'm also very interested in the progress of this new track. If I go I'll post whatever info I can get from them tomorrow.

Just got back from the event. Nice meeting Kyle, Alan, and Pat there. Not much to talk about. Basically they got over most of the hurdles and will break ground around 2011 and finish in 2012. Was hoping the track will be ready by late 2010 but I guess that was wishful thinking. The owner's got a nice collection of exotic cars.

Went to "Open House" today. Here are some impressions.
Not much of an Open "house". They do not have anything built. There is no site work done. They did have a tent with a display of a model of the facility, and numerous drawings that showed infrastructure and track layout, including elevation changes. Said display included the engineer behind the project. He seemed knowledgable and indicated the various hoops that were needed to jump through were easily surmounted. He also indicated that they considered building in stages, but decided to build the entire facility all at once, so I take that to mean that when the facility is opn all racing surfaces, paddock, access roads, and buildings will be completed and functional. He indicated open for business 2012. The track layout will have 2 seperate but interconnectable tracks. Just looking at the track map makes it seem busy, but when taken at scale it should be a fun to drive track with fairly high speed and some low speed sections. There will be a lot of elevation change. Also spoke with one of the business people. He was distracted by all the people that he knew who interupted us to say "Hi" or socialize. I take this as a negetive. First because it indicates that a lot of people who came by were friends rather than potential users. Second, I though that he should be more interested in selling the facility to me. THough it was also impolite of all the acquaintences to interupt. I asked about wether they were going to be membership driven or if they were going the traditional route of rental to clubs and racing organizations. THey indicated most of expected business is club rental, some racing, some memberships with dedicated days, and some open track days. They did not have any specific info on cost of rental, membership etc. Car collection was good. I've seen it all before so not impressed - the EB110 was the only car I had never seen in person and was the only Lotus content other than the cars of myself, cornbeef, eliseatleast, and pastafazool (Lotus designed the EB110 for Artioli when he owned both companies). The presence of the cars I interpret as a way to attract onlookers and generate a wow factor. I figure anyone who can afford such a collection surely has a significant means to accomplish the project. The people behind the project are the Mascaro's. Their business is Solid Waste Disposal. They collect trash. Since there is no lack of trash, and they are a big company, I expect they have a good business sense and are well funded. So, where does it leave us enthusiasts. I think they have a good proposed facility that would be used by clubs, racers and individual enthusiasts and will be successful if it gets built. IF IT GETS BUILT. Like I said earlier in the thread, as much as I hope for success, I'll beleive it when I see it. I'll drive by infrequently and look for and post the presence of construction activity.
