NMBM Fri 10/10/08: White Mountains Scenic Drive

NMBM Fri 10/10/08: White Mountains - Polly's Pancake Parlor

Details may change slightly but here's the general plan.
  1. 7:00am - We will leave from the Hooksett, NH Rest Area (on I-93N just after the tolls) at 7:00 am (yup, early)
  2. We'll travel north on 93 then branch off for some scenic side roads.
  3. ~9:30 - Breakfast at Polly's Pancake Parlor in Sugar Hill, NH
  4. ~12:00 - More scenic side roads to our first refuel/bio-break in Lincoln, NH
  5. We'll drive the Kanc to Bear Notch to Hurricane Mt. Rd to Moat Mt. Smokehouse
  6. ~15:30 - We'll adjust our schedule at Moat Mt. Smokehouse with possible early dinner and/or photo stop at MMS between 15:00-16:00.
  7. More scenic roads and photo ops to Ashland, NH
  8. ~18:00 - Possible dinner at the Common Man or some place on 93S depending on the time.

People are welcome to come for all or part of the trip and many have done just that in the past. The logical place to join the group are Hooksett, Polly's, Lincoln, and MMS. Of course, you can drop off whenever you like.

DISCLAIMER:
I will drive as much of the route as possible before the event, but traffic and road construction are always possibilities. Anyone is welcome, but you are responsible for your own actions. Reckless drivers are not welcome. This is not a race or exhibition of driving skill. Do not drink and drive. You are expected to operate your vehicle safely and failure to do so is not my problem.

I plan on going. I may go up a day or two early and drive part of the route myself. As far as meeting up, I think I'll just wait on the side of the road at 93N exit 24 and wait for everyone to pass by. It seems easy enough.

Wish I could make it...Unfortunately, some of us have to work on weekdays You can all think of poor little me, slaving away within the workplace while you all have fun

Hiro, you didn't look so good the other day. Maybe you should take Friday off to recover.

Unfortunately, I can't play that card. Several people from work are on my mailing list.

Lincoln forecast is in the 60's and sunny all day. Foliage will be at peak along the Kanc this weekend.

I'm packing the car to head to NH now. I'll be joining at exit 24. If you leave Hooksett at 7:00 sharp, it'll take you probably at least 40 minutes to get to exit 24. I'll be there at 7:20 or so on the side of the road just to make sure.

If we leave at 7am, we will not pass that exit before 7:36. Since I don't plan on being in Hooksett before 6:50, an early departure is unlikely.

i.e., don't worry about getting there early. 7:40 is about right. If I don't see you at the exit, I'll call you and we can meet at exit 26.

I'm leaving for NH now. See you tomorrow.

I'm not sure how many are coming tomorrow, but I made reservations for 10 at Polly's. They expect to be busy, so it's good that I called. We should be seated by 10am at the latest which keeps us close enough to schedule.

All this means is that we need to be there by 9:45, so please be on time and gassed up.
