Lightning event

Perhaps you could get me if I didn't have to join the Audi club,or if I could make any sense of the application for the three days-------

You probably could get some more Lotuses if you didn't require mandatory instruction for all the days. There are a bunch of us who track frequently, and we would love to have more events with more Lotuses but frankly for those of us who track a lot, it is not something that is interesting.....with that requirement.

This is not an open track day, so sorry if that's not for you.

For Friday, there will be no in car instruction. On the other two days, you can be signed off to solo if your driving warrants it. Still you need to attend classes on both days.

Haha.... Calling for Laurie!!!

Yeah, just go straight to tracking, forget the "working in easy" to auto-x first.

IMO: Auto-X and track driving are different skills. Why not go for broke to begin with?

An HPDE session is not a race, you can drive at a pace that is comfortable for you, and work your way up to faster speeds as you get more confident.

And for those who think they don't need instructors (no disrespect intended to Ambrosia, who is VERY experienced and FAST), I have tracked my Esprit for 15 years now and I learn something from every instructor that rides with me. It's all GOOD. And FUN.

I know that and completely agree with you, but for a complete "newbie" having other cars around you and having to keep a look out for them and accounting for their mistakes can be nerve racking. At least in auto-x, you're out there by yourself.

And while auto-x and tracking are nothing alike, auto-x is hard and more jerky while tracking is smooth and slower movements, I still say having auto-x experience before tracking is useful. I had a way better idea of my cars grip abilities and was use to the car sliding and spinning (haven't spun on the track, but almost had the rear come all the way around on me, but it was in the rain ) But anyone can start at either one. I would have still felt perfectly safe going to a track event with good people and good instructors.

And as Carbuff said, you can always learn more from an instructor. I'm a PSIA Level III instructor and race coach for skiing. I'm still constantly learning stuff and improving my skiing by being with others even though most think I'm one of the best and more qualified instructors at my mountain. I would never turn any advice away, even the newbie instructors that aren't even PSIA certified.

You know we have more E30 M3s signed up now that Loti! I was hoping for quite a few more attendees. At least we have one Exige now along with the 3 Elises.

Additionally the Friday day has been cancelled due to lack of interest. $50 off this week using code "FALL2009" during the payment process (last step of registration).
