Central Florida Road Course
Been awhile since I have been on here but been busy.
A short 1 mile road course will be opening in Orlando tentatively on January 15th, 2009. It is a smaller road course than some may be used to such as a Sebring or the numerous "rovals". If any of you were familiar with the roval set-up at USA International (RIP) it was only .75 miles and very narrow in some spots. The Central Florida Road Course or CFRC for short is 30' wide minimum with wider areas for passing. It is a full one mile and the current ownership will be looking at a Phase II expansion to get a 1.3-1.4 mile course as soon as the first phase is up and running. This is a great track for handling and racing lower displacement vehicles. Karting is allowed and the track size makes it a short enduro/ long sprint type Kart track. There will be an SCCA school there full-time and many other events. Open days are planned but driver requirements are more stringent than some other open day events at other tracks. Location: Central Florida Parkway behind SeaWorld and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Pricing: $5000 per day weekday (base rental) and $6000 Fri-Sun (base rental) with discounts given for multiple days and annual or semi-annual commitments. Matt

Track
We have not contacted NASA yet. The opening date was given to us today so we could begin to notify people. Some of the track day companies are interested especially with the price and location.
We are going to be running some open days also for a driver fee if the driver has proper expereince. My group is managing and promoting the track. There will be several schools on site. It is secure and private. If you are interested in letting me know, a contact for your NASA group would allow me to get the info to them quicker. I am involved with SCCA, sorry. MT

Karts are welcome. We are planning on recruiting some karting events and trying to recruit an arrive and drive program as well. This track is open to all vehicles except motorcycles at this time.
