^^^^^ 1000% right on. (Although karting makes great rainy day activities too.)

Please add me to the list, too--I live in the Libertyville area, though, so southwest suburbs are kind of out for me. Maybe half the fun of driving is getting there, but not if you have to come southwest from where I am.
Just getting to FVMC takes me a very unpleasant 1.5 hours...

I have yet to find much in the way of nice twisty bits since moving here last year. Not sure there are many to be found.

I know it was a bit of a trek, however, you guys really missed out by not attending the rally in northern Wisconsin this weekend. Besides the roads that everyone kept comparing to the Tail of the Dragon, there were many other surprises that would have made the weekend well worth the trip. Maybe next year...

LotusTalkers who attended:
dasmoofler
dwkoski
GR82DRV
Me!
Moto44
rockhead
and Frank Howard (I don't know his screen name)

If I weren't going to be out of town, I'd be attending the Lotus Corps Ice Cream Rally this weekend: Lotus Corps

Marguerite and I attended Ribfest in Lake in the Hills this past month and entered the car show on a lark since it allowed us free entry into the festival. We wound up taking home a first place trophy for the best car of the year 2000 and later. And, all I did was wash it in preparation.

Perhaps all anyone has to do is suggest a meeting place and others will show up.

Damn - 2 hours away. A little too far for me to wake up at 4am so I can be there by 7am. Wish you had another one this year at Joliet. It's like, right down the street.

Kat:

Come up the night before, get the car inspected, have dinner (and drinks) with all of us, pass out at the hotel and get up around 7:00AM for the 7:45ish driver's meeting.

We (www.MVPTrackTime.com) have a limited number of spots remaining in all three run groups for our September 5-6 track weekend at Blackhawk Farms. Hope to see you at the track.

The huge British Car Festival is being held at the Oakton Community College in Des Plaines on September 13th (British Car Union Home Page). Dave Koski (dwkoski) says this is one you don't want to miss. Robert (Me!) and I are hoping to attend. If any others are planning on attending, let us know so that we can be sure to meet up.

They are also having a rally/drive the day before (Donald M. Healey Rally).

Todd

Since we have such a lengthy list of LotusTalkers here in the Chicago area, it might be simpler if we subscribe to this thread to catch local updates, as opposed to someone trying to private message everybody.

If you haven't subscribed to a thread before, you do so under the "Thread Tools" tab near the top of the page. You are then emailed anytime there is a new post in the thread.

I plan on going. It's real close to my old stompin' ground. I don't know about the rally, though. It starts a long, long way away from the college. We'll see. I've been known to change my mind.
