The rally is on Saturday and the festival at the college is on Sunday. You can register and pay when you arrive at either event.

Yup. Among them a group drive to Lake Geneva, a road rally, the Lotus Owners Gathering, Talladega Superspeedway, Tail of the Dragon, a LotusTalker snowmobile weekend, track days at Autobahn and Blackhawk, pancakes at Richard Walkers, steaks at Weber Grill, and evomind is into his sixth sports car (GT40) in the past four years.

I've done the Healley (sp?) club rally before and it's usually well done and a lot of fun. My wife and I took second a few years back on her first attempt at rallying. I'm going to try to make the British Auto Festival this year if i can get the weekend off and can find time to clean up the Europa. It's a lot more convenient now that it's been moved back up to the northern 'burbs. The last year that it was held there, they made us park trailers in the spectators lot and that was a disaster.
Thunder showers popped up late in the afternoon and trying to load a vehicle into a trailer with Chicago's great unwashed whizzing through the parking lot with no concern for anything in their path was an experience best forgotten. I herniated my L3-L4 disc trying to get the Europa pushed out of harm's way. Took about a year to get over that but I did go again the next year...Dave |

I'll be there on Sunday. I recently joined Lotus Corps and am going to park in the show this year.

I can commit to the rally on Saturday. And I won't likely be at the British Auto Festival the entire time 9a-3p on Sunday, but I do plan to attend.

I would like to make it to one of the local get-togethers if I can make it. I am not going to make it to a track event this year but a nice drive somewhere sounds fun.

Me, too. I've never done a track event and I'm not sure I'm a good enough driver to ever try.
A nice ride somewhere sounds good, although I notice that most of the folks here seem to live in the southern/western 'burbs, and I'm way up north in Libertyville... |

If you've never done a track event, you're the ideal person to do a track event. I guarantee you will learn enough to make it worth while. It's not a 'contest" and you can be the slowest car on the track and get more out of it than any hot dog in the "experienced" group. If you drive an Elise and haven't had the opportunity to safely test the limits of the car without the risk of hitting things or endangering others, you haven't yet discovered the real reason for owning the car. The instructors at most events (be sure to get one familiar with the Elise) will usually correct enough basic flaws in driving technique to more than justify the cost of the event. Plus, it's a great adrenaline rush...Dave

"Without hitting things or endangering others" sounds like my cup of tea.
![]() Maybe at one of these get togethers in the future I can talk to some folks and get more details. The only thing I've ever tracked is go karts, which come to think of it would have a lot in common with the Elise... |

no, not the one being outhustled on a track by the wrangler. that one looks orange...
![]() maybe the jeep is out ahead due to better driving? or is the elise that slow? since i had an elise, i would say its a combination. ![]()

So I went to the car show at Hooters in Schaumburg Sunday 8/29. Car was in a hundred parts, didnt get everything back together until after entry deadline. Still had a great time. Here is photo of my car with the Hooter girls and the best of show.
About a 110 cars in all, 50 trophies. Missed the raffle of $350 by 1 digit.

Saturday September 12. Join us! Donald M. Healey Rally
It says non-British cars allowed at the discretion of the rally master. So, best bring the GT40 instead of the H1 Hummer. ![]()
