I believe it is a gimmick rally, but I will contact them to make sure. We just did a gimmick rally in Northern Wisconsin. Very fun! It didn't involve getting out of the car, you simply answer questions about things you see along the route. It really did make the drive more entertaining. However, you definitely want a navigator to fully appreciate an event like this. If you don't have one, you could still follow along behind another one of us to just enjoy the drive.

The Healley rally has always been a gimmick rally, doubt they wou;d consider a tsd rally as it's too difficult to set up in an urban environm ent and too few people remember how to do one...Dave

Can't make it tomorrow but the roads around Lake Geneva are great. I hope to make the British Auto Festival next week if I can find a navigator for the rally on Saturday and a place to stay for Saturday nite. Just put the Hummer back together so I can either trailer down the Europa or drive the green Elise. Should have time to clean up either this week. I should call Paul to see if he's bringing the Mark 6, if so I'd bring the Elise...Dave

I have confirmed that it will be a gimmick rally on September 12th (Donald M. Healey Rally), and it will only include one stop where we get out of the cars. However, I understand that it should prove of interest.

I assume that Tracy's wave means that she is volunteering to act as your navigator if you need one. Either Tracy is afraid that she won't be allowed in with her fancy German car, or she doesn't want to be held up by all of our slow little British makes.

Wish I could make it but I'm on call tomorrow so gotta stay close to the hospital. If I had evomind's car, Wisconsin would actually still be considered close but as is, the Elise forces me to stay in the city

Stopped and said hi to Rick at Popeye's this evening and had a delicious dinner as usual. That place is a gold mine!

Dang. Todd I just read your private message. By coincidence I was at Lake Geneva and passed Popeye's a few hours ago. I would love to go but its really tough to commit since my 2 and 4 year old can change my plans at a moment's notice.

Have fun everyone, had a great time even though I drove a van up there today and left the Elise at home. I spotted LOTS of fun cars and really wished I had my car with me. Its supposed to be just beautiful weather tomorrow too. grrrr...tempted. Let me see what i can do.

Quick note for those joining us on the drive tomorrow: you will likely want to top off your gas at a station as you exit the interstate just before you get to my place. We won't have good gas stops along the way.

I can confirm (regrettably) that I cannot go. Thanks for the invite.
I will be at the BC fest next weekend/Ssunday (assuming I don't get stuck in Dallas).

Drat - I just saw this thread. Didn't subscribe to it before. It's past 10a and I'm in Lakeview, so I guess I have to catch everyone at the next meet up.

Just arrived home--traffic was murder between Lake Geneva and Libertyville.

Kudos and thanks to Todd for setting this up--I had a blast, and it was great to meet all of you. Let's do it again before the snow comes...

I-294 is under construction in IL in some places and I-94 is torn up and down to 2 lanes from the state line all the way to Milwaukee. Everyone must be trying to avoid the interstate.
