Guys on Ferrari Chat stated that Lamborghini Chicago lost their franchise for Lambo. Any word on Lotus?

Thanks.

They're hanging in there. Still sorting things out, but they'll be fine.

Just sit tight and let's see where T.J. surfaces... Hopefully we'll hear sooner rather than later (for everyone's sake, T.J. included)

Thanks for sharing TJ. So sad. I will keep you in my thoughts. You are the best of the best.

I was looking forward to terrorizing you this spring with the recall. I may have to ship you 'up north' for a day and do the oil lines & radiator. haha.

I hope things work out for you. I really do.

Lake Forest Sportscars is a Lotus dealer. Bit different clientele. I can check on their labor rate, but I don't know if it's different for McLaren vs. Lotus.

I called up Lake Forest Sportscars and spoke to Ben. He advised that they can do lotus recall work, and that they have completed 6-7 oil line recalls to date. I will be bringing my exige there later this week.

Keep (us) posted on this one. I've been watching with some concern about the post-recall issues some have experienced after taking their car in to other dealers (the worst being the cracked windshield incident and the post replacement oil line failure).

LFSC, I've read, does not have a certified LTS tech on staff-- which may or may not be reason for concern.

I've dealt with Ben for parts - good guy.

Let's see what TJ has to say..

That being, said, are we perhaps overthinking this a bit?

LFSC is Lake Forest Sports Cars. They sell Ferrari, McLaren, Aston, Maserati and Lotus. In addition, the Mancusos are VERY accomplished racers.

Hell, when I was there picking up parts last year, Choatie's McLaren was there on the lift.

The point? It's really not rocket surgery right? Sure, all cars have their unique bits an bobs and getting a clam off quickly is valued, but if a ton of shade tree guys can do it, then I'm sure guys who fix $300K exotic cars all day long can figure it out.

I loved the convenience and comraderie of FVMC, but I'm thinking a dealer that repairs McLarens and 458s can handle our little plastic cars, no?

Jeff I am with you. We are replacing some lines here. I'm an idiot with a soldering iron and a manual and took half the car apart in an evening, did some stuff, and put it back together in a couple hours. Hell, I didn't even have any spare parts afterwards haha

I will get before pics of my car in the event that the car comes back damaged, but other than that I am having some faith in humanity And their techs ability to render what should be a simple replacement.

I also emailed TJ this morning asking for his recommendation so I absolutely value and welcome his thoughts on this.

>>>the convenience of FVMC

That's the other thought I was having. With FVMC, I didn't worry about persuading someone to pick me up and take me back if I had to take the car in.
Westmont (and even the old place on North Ave) was doable. Lake Fores...actually, Lake Bluff, is asking a lot for a lift. ...which means either a 'loaner' (if they do that?) or arranging a rental (another hassle--espec if it runs more than one day).

None of it insurmountable, but stuff that has to be planned out now.

Yeah, that was good. But driving the smelly ass green Mercury Mariner loaner was no treat!

Most of the stuff I had done was 'do it while you wait'.

Another option is cartage. Just like Tommy at FVMC, I'm sure LFSC has a porter guy with an enclosed. Will probably cost you, but depending on your time....

Another way to think about it is to see if you can coordinate them to do the recall while you wait. I think it's about a 4 hour deal. Go there and you have wifi and oh, you have tons of awesome cars to check out while you are there.

Not to mention the best thing about LFSC....

The receptionist is face melting hot....

So I still need to get my oil cooler recall work done and I'd like to get the radiator done too. Anyone get a quote from LFSC? Do they remove the front clam? Any other options?

yeah the front clam comes off for the recall... iirc I thought another forum member had his radiator upgraded during the oil line recall as well & said it ran them around $300 range??? I think they said it saved them about $200 off the bill

I think FVMC wanted 400-600 for the labor of a radiator change during recall.

My recall was just completed at lake forest sports cars and I did not opt to do anything with the radiator.
