2008 Summit Point Track Day Schedule

Track Season is HERE

The Summit Point Motorsports Park has three distinct circuits: Summit Point Main, Shenandoah and Jefferson. The purpose of this thread is to maintain a comprehensive list of track days at Summit Point for the 2008 Season.

Here's a link for the WEATHER at Summit Point.

I'll add to this master list as events are announced and/or discovered. Please post when you find something and/or have feedback on an event.

Good luck and keep the shiny side up.

i thought about trying to manage a schedule for there too, but it's quite difficult to have anything resembling "comprehensive." groups use that facility from everywhere east of the mississippi and beyond. it's not like SP, where it's the same ole same ole list of players.

of course, i'm still working with "she who must be obeyed" on the whole concept of a nice aluminum trailer. if that comes through, then VIR is on my to-do list at least once or twice this year... it's not like i'm driving a car with porsche-like reliability.

i won't be ready that early for VIR. i'm thinking maybe after the rains are done, maybe May/June.

those couple of seat time days are listed on the drift nirvana website.

you gotta dig, my man.

Man, I hope they have a FATT in early March. I have two days of credits with them and I was hoping to hit Summit in my new car before I hit a new track like VIR. New car and new track probably won't be as fun..

I'm also finding that there aren't that many track rats over on the Cayman boards..oh well

I did. In the early 80's! Washington DC Regions had one of the best schools. It is one of the oldest SCCA regions in the US.

I might be up for it on those dates. Definitely we need a group run for the fun of it at least once during the Spring. Ace, you don't have Porsche-like reliability, you have Toyota-like reliability. I am going to do some early events when the weather is cooler because I would like to get about two track days before my rotors explode. Weight + HP = $

I'll do the TrackDaze event 3/3-4 at VIR.

Jeff - you might check out the "Racing & DE" sub-forum at Rennlist. Not a lot of Cayman drivers there, but a lot of track folks from across the P-Car range.

Audi Club is at VIR 4/21-22 and 11/15-16. I'll post their Summit dates when I see them. I really like running with them and they have an especially good program for beginners.

hey, i'll be working the school day sessions so make sure and say Hi if u come out for it. I have the full SCCA schedule somewhere, so that i can plan the season (race! not work!).

I'll bring my Elise too. Usually there's one or two in the paddock. And an old guy who asks me if he can get one with automatic. Funny bird.

You have to be an ACNA member - I think it's around $45/yr. They do two VIR events, one at Shenandoah, and I think a car control clinic at Jefferson. You don't have to own an Audi.

The ride down to Danville from the DC area - even in a Lotus - isn't that bad. When you see how much nicer VIR is than SP, you will kick yourself for waiting so long to go there. This date may work as my first track day of the year (In a Lotus anyway... I just did 2 days in a Radical @ Spring Mountain near Vegas ), so if anyone would be interested in a Loti caravan it makes the drive more fun/safer/etc.

What is the weather likely to be for early March at Summit? What happens if the track is covered with snow?

If the track is covered with snow they will cancel the track day. I went to a December track day there that was held with snow everywhere but the track. It was raining in the early sessions and if you spun off just a little you were stuck; ask me how I know. The last sesion of the day was cancelled when the rain turned to snow showers. The average high should be about 50F in early March at Summit so unless there is a late Spring, significant snow would be rare. Although with 50-60 degree days in January a late Spring is statistically more likely. I might go on Jan. 20th if the weather is anything like it has been.
