This really pisses me off, I can understand a spirited drive once in awhile but if you are gonna do some flat out stupid **** ....stay out of my backyard. Thanks to these jackholes ,I now have to watch my back every waking moment just to enjoy a drive in my own area. I read about this in another thread on another site, it was similar in content but also added that the majority of the people involved in this act of stupidity were part of the Mischeif TV crowd, I hope they got the video footage they needed so they can continue to sell crappy subpar DVD s to 16 year old ricers. Bunch of clowns.

Sometimes "common" people over react though. If you are in a group, and maybe doing 5-10 over the limit and pass people and get in their lane like 30 yards ahead of them, some people just hate it for some reason and will call it in and complain. It comes with owning a flashy car.
Not to mention that media wayyyyyyyyyyyy over plays anything on the news. Not trying to defend the people in this story because I have no idea what actually happened, but sometimes its the common person that is the douche. |

reckless driving in VA means going 75. This means nothing out here in CA. 75 is not reckless. VA needs to grow up.
That article doesn't even have any info relevant to the fact the were reckless. reckless how?

Was it REALLY news worthy and why did it take 4 police departments... I half expected to read that they killed someone, or were all on drugs, or something more than what was even reported. (not that I condone crossing double yellows) but jeez- To have to bring up that as the main point of violation? If I was the news editor I would have said... Is this all? Are we really going to run an article where the smoking gun is local citizens reporting seeing too many sports cars together, speeding, and crossing a double line.

In one of the articles I read elsewhere it stated that one of the guys spooked a cop and did a "U" turn directly in front of him to void being pulled over. Like I stated earlier just pisses me off its where I live. I do agree with shay2nak Virginia does need to grow up.

Not really responding to the OP story, but often the Elige gets a bum rap at first glance. Because of the car's race-inspired style, bright colors, tendency towards loud exhausts, and deceptive scale-to-speed ratio, people often think they're going faster than they really are.
Of course a speedo in the cockpit that reads 5 miles too fast adds to the illusion for the driver too!

It was definitely Mischief - they provided a teaser for it, "Banned from Skyline" but I can't find the video anywhere anymore.
Mischief.tv - “Mischief 8 – Banned From Skyline Drive” Chapter It had a Graphite Grey Lotus Exige, a few Porsches, GTR, and the typical stanced M3s (form and no function) you see everywhere in NOVA. I thought the video was entertaining from a video editing perspective but I was disappointed with the lack of video equipment, organization, and driving experience. All I could think of is: This is cool but these boys should have stayed in the city lol Half of it is them getting separated and trying to find where they are going. Somehow one group ended up on a state road and they showcased the Exige negotiating rocks like it was a 4x4 Rock Climbing event (What the hell, don't show that, that's embarassing!) Another scene of the video had multiple cars breaking traction and veering into each other's lanes. And yes, a few guys "U" turned in the middle of the road to avoid the cops lol With that said: Do I think the state of VA is making a big deal out of this? Yes but I'm not surprised. But that's what happens when you get a group of young guys driving over their head, hot lapping roads, and measuring cocks. Adrenaline makes us do stupid stuff and unfortunately when you have a nice car, and especially if you're in a group of nice cars, you have a bulls eye written all over you. I've been organizing group rides for years now with higher-end cars. All the rides I communicate to everyone where we are going, place the faster cars and more experienced guys in the front , keep in a single file line, never pass/cut the double line, and especially no hot lapping roads. I've had new guys ride with us that the adrenaline got to their head(inexperience) and I've had to tell them to go home (in one case, a bike that a month later killed 2 people.) I hope they post it back up Last edited by VAmrgbrkr; 12-10-2012 at 07:36 PM. |
