Daytime Running Lights / Auxiliary Driving Lights?

Now. . . I'm just wondering if the daytime running lights will replace the current auxiliary driving lights, mounted on the grill? Or is it more likely they'll just be built into the standard headlights housing? (Maybe it simply powers up the low beams whenever the car is running?)

My guess would be that they are just the parking lights which are already built into the high-beam lights. It would be simple to rewire them such that they are on all the time and the tailights are not turned on with them.

Just wondering,

Does anybody have the 2006 option sheet yet. Colours, prices, upgrades, etc.... ?

You can find plenty of discussion in the forums but the quick rundown is (prices in UD$)

1)daytime running lights
2)LED taillights
3)Extra seat padding
4)LSD/TC ($1790)
5)TC($495)
6)Forged wheels (without LSS) ($1695)
7)Matt black wheels ($250)
8)Colour changes (no more SY or BRP, addition of Solar Yellow and BRG)

Actually most systems run the high beam lamps at a reduced voltage (so they don't blind other drivers)

It's gotten to the point that here in Canada it seems very funny to see a car without drl's

That's the way it was in the US when the foolishness first started - glaringly annoying high beams shining in the back window of low sports cars.

Now days, most new cars with DRLs (in the US anyway) are using either separate lights in the grill, the yellow turn signal bulbs, of "city lights" in the headlights (like the Elise has for front parking lights). DRLs are not quite as annoying as they used to be...

Toyota is now in the process of recalling over 92,000 2000 and 2001 Celicas because the DRLs are too bright.

On a different (but popular here) subject, the NHTSA said it has shut down 24 suppliers of kits that allow people to install their own HID lights.

Really? I wish GM would recall all the Saturns they ever made, on which the DRLs are way too bright.

Yes. Although my limited understanding was not that the seats were necessarily new, but the padding is different/more/rearranged.

GM was also mentioned in the recall, but I didn't catch the details on them, so didn't mention it.

IMO that would be the nail in the coffin for US 06 Elise sales. Might help Prestige shift the 35 cars baking on their lot though

YES!!! Those LEDs look great!! I kinda figured they'd leave the turn and reverse lights as bulbs. Thanks, Randy!

The grill looks like a stack of bricks, but it looks good!!!

The new seats have some funky material that automatically adjusts over time to the correct posture for the driver. The lumbar pump is gone. Can't remember the make of the seats but Lotus have been testing them for some time I was told.

Anyone know what wheels are fitted to the Exige ? I like black wheels on the Exige but that isnt an option on the Forged Wheels on the Elise. Sports Pack = Silver wheels only ?
