Is this the 2007 bumper?

Had the chance to test drive an early delivery '07 Elise with the new bumpers yesterday at a track in Orlando.

First impressions: There have been major modifications to the front clam and it's not a wonder where all the extra weight came from, but for all the added safety we'll get with these I think it's worth it.

Also, Lotus has been so pleased with the success of the Exige S here in the States they've decided to increase the safety and fuel economy for the '07MY Elise by limiting throttle opening to 2.5%. Combine that with the added weight of the bumpers and 0-60 times drop a bit, but the new ECU has the top end governed to 8mph anyway. They've added a triple redundant GPS tracking feature that reports top speeds directly to Hethel. Excessive speed will void the warrenty. Be warned.

The interior was appropriately spartan. In an effort to make up for the power loss they've also done away with the airbags, radio, a/c, leather, instrument cluster and the entire transmission. The new lightweight 8" wheels are a nice touch too. Ingress/egress remains unchanged.

BTW, these things work! I witnessed several 3-5mph collisions with no injuries and not even a cracked clam to show for it. After seeing this I feel so much better knowing our government is so concerned with our safety.

I was reading this without scrolling down to look at the pictures...talk about a scare for a minute there...

Fortunately when I read that they were limiting the Elise throttle I had the good sense to scroll down and then catch on...good job though, you truly had me worried there

Ya know WP if you hadn't gone quite so far with that it would have had many of us wondering. That's a great picture!

I thought about backing off a bit and then "forgetting" to post the pic, but I didn't want to push the deception too far. Just a "made ya look" sorta thing.

BTW, I'm assured these will be available in anodized aluminium to match the diffuser.

My son rode Space Mountain 6 times. He's just pushing 50" tall. Once he hits 52" we're off to the Rockin ' Rollercoaster at MGM and the fun really begins.
