2008 Prism Green? From Whence it came...

It just dawned on me from whence the inspiration for the new $5100 Prism Green paint scheme for the 2008 models came.

Thanks to Robert for the colors and their prices (http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/show...6&postcount=58)
and to Mick who posted some pictures showing said colors (http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/show...4&postcount=65).

Although I do think, if that really is the Prism Green , that it may look a little too much like Barney.

looks like the popular TVR flip flop green paint color?

thoose cameleon flip flops colors are made by paint compaines... not by car companies, and they are rather expensive paints

I have a couple models with Standox paint which do that, cool paint kinda pricey though. Paint matching after a clam replacement might be an "issue".

I remember seeing "chrome paint" on a show car that gave a mirror like shine. I really liked it. The owner said that it was fragile and couldn't handle stress well. Apparently, it could buckle and crack on plastic or fiberglass trim parts. I really looked beautiful, though. Found an example below.

I like the way it looks, but driving behind a car like that on a sunny day could be dangerous.

I think that color option should include spoke wheels to complete the look... Or a stinger exhaust like the old dune buggies.

(keep in mind i love AW)

As an example it makes sense, but I don't know if that is a legitimate picture. It looks like a parking lot in the reflection (right up on a curb & grass) and the horizon is very sharp (no photog).

If that is the prism green and it is $5100, then they can keep it. I never liked the chamelon (sp?) colors. I have seen them on BMW Z3 and Mustangs. I not only find them about as ugly as you can get, but also very blingy. But again, to each their own. As for the chrome M3, you're kidding right? We who dispise chrome (well most seem to on this board); an entire car in chrome look? God help us all.

I think you are right. And if you look at the other small model on the table to the right, that could be the moonstone silver. This would make sense if they wanted to keep the semetry of the models in the display based on the prices of the new colors; at least for the two most expensive ones.

Out of those two ($5100 ones), I'll take the moonstone silver any day (the prism green should be a -$15,000 paint option), although my favorites fall in the $1200 and below range, except maybe the burnt orange; I need to see that one in real life.

Chameleon paints are ricey as hell. Around here you only see those paints on badly modified or overdone ricer's cars. I don't know what they're smoking at Hethell but this type of paint on a track oriented car is... weird.

Fortunately, at 5100$, not many Elise/Exige are gonna get bastardized into a ricer mobile. But for those who like it, good for them to have the option.

I saw the color chart at the show and I couldn't get Prism Green to color shift. But moonstone silver...now that is a badass color. the color remains silver, but the metal flake changes color (like an opal) red, green, orange, blue, yellow. Crazy ass color.

That is interesting; I would have to see that one. These colors would have to be for someone who does ot care about money/resale, or someone who loves them and will keep the car a very long time. Otherwise, the depreciation of your new '08 will be about the usual 25 to 30% in 6 months (if you bought at MSRP) plus another $5K........ouch!

I've got a laptop done in chameleon paint, but thats about as far as i'd go.

It is indeed pricey and hard to colour match.

Definitely chopped. Look at the reflections in the glass of the building.
