thanks - i tried web design work when i was around 15-16.... and I don't recommend it. Doing it for yourself is MUCH better. Pick a niche you can relate to (i used to be overweight but i fought it naturally and won, so that's my interest), and go ALL out creating websites with great information on a product you have chosen to be an affiliate for. Then build links to it and you'll start getting sales eventually... there is of course an art to conversion but for the most part all i can say is TEST TEST TEST TEST!

From reading your blog, it sounds like you have your **** together so I would do one of two things. If you really want the car just get it. Otherwise take the money you would have spent on it and invest it in your business.

My strategy is making random websites with different purposes; usually things that are unprecedented and are user-based so that users will have reasons to continue to come back. I have had a lot of ideas, gone into the process of design and then tore them down.

All I need is one website that will just float...and I'm set. I make money while taking a ****. Doesn't have to be Youtube or Myspace big.

It costs us virtually nothing to make a website because we have developed my own exceptional portal software that is actually available for public use and downloading.

I am constantly brainstorming ideas. We have made excellent use of Google ads to generate revenue...I know how to manipulate it. (NOT ILLEGALLY)

Anyways, good luck and good strategy

I like your strategy as well but for new niches I prefer to set up landing pages and run CPA offers with PPC to test profitability. Either way, both of our costs are very low. I agree with your strategy - throw enough **** at the wall and some sticks and makes you that 99% of the cash.

Gosh, I must be the most conservative person here

Just keep in mind that you can have all the income in the world, but if you don't have cash or liquidity in the bank (on a net basis), you got "nuthin"... Toys are great, but you should always pay yourself first (i.e. save some money), and buy your toys second (if not third or fourth...)...

Have you paid yourself? What's your net liquidity (again you can't spend/eat your roof so your house doesn't count)? If it's not over 6 figures after buying your Lotus, then keep saving...

You can sacrafice when you're young or you can sacrafice when you're old...

Best,

Phil

I wasn't going to ask how you had such a high income for your age. I was going to ask how you had such high expenses for your age???

I'm 38 years old, with a wife and two toddler boys, and my expenses are close to $5K per month including the ownership of my Exige.

I just realized that number is way off. This month I pay my last month of rent for my old apartment, since I just moved into my house. I forgot that that $995/month won't be included anymore after this month.

It's actually around 4k at most every month. I buy a lot of links and hire my content writers a lot, and it usually ends up being about that much that I spent on biz.

I have the feeling that your financial strategy is the reason you have a 230whp lotus, instead of a stock one.

Correct. I don't have to think too hard about buying things for the car anymore... But I was frugal SOB for several years before I got to the point where spending money on something "as cheap" as the Lotus is pretty much decision irrelevant...and I'm not an old guy by any means... If you played your cards right with your kind of income, you wouldn't have to ask anyone's permission to do anything from a financial standpoint by the time you're 28-30... I know this from experience...

Best,

Phil

stupid. no offense. you can easily afford it now. and if you get bored you can afford to even take a hit on getting rid of it. ask me how much fun i have in mine, and how many times i've wished i invested the money instead.

+1,000,000 even at a 1500/month payment i'd still have tons of cash left to reinvest in my biz.

lol it kills me how people overanalyze such simple and uncomplicated questions like this. Please get the car, and have as much fun as the rest of us do and save me the frustration of reading one more tiresome "don't buy it because the world is going to end" argument.

you know in my 20's I spent most of my time just trying to figure out what the hell to do with myself, I wasn't making 6 figures until I was 29..

let me tell you man.. you are making top %.0001 income for your age group..

even if you were just making 100k a year I would say you can definitely afford the exige.. but you are making 150-190k a year and you have no family to support.. dude you are WELL OFF.. get the friggin car and you still have a crapload of money left over for investments.

Seriously.. I don't mean to be negative to some of the frugal types on here.. but you are SO young and are making SO much money so young you can't go wrong dude.. seriously..

BTW it doesnt seem like your websites or your busness is going to go down the tubes anytime soon anyway.. so if I were you just DO IT.

I have 3 businesses and they are all very volatile.. one month I will make 9k the other 60k.. and I am 31.. and I still buy really expensive toys and manage to hold everything together and still have money for investments.. I'm telling you kid you've got it MADE

you worked hard to make your great salary at your age, guess what? you DESRVE a car like a lotus..

again if you were out here trying to find a way to buy a new carrera GT putting your neck out bigtime I would say no.. but you're not doing that.. you are buying a 70k car when you make over 2x that in one year.. you're fine.. trust me..

enjoy your youth.. God I wish I was in your position at 21..

Here is my little story... I really wanted an elise last year, but was hesitating. Now i make enough $ to be comfortable, but as with all emotional purchases (not investments) regardless of of the value, there is always this question: should i buy it or is there something better i can do with the $$ (IE more "responsible" as i am sure your GF woudl put it). I discussed this with my boss, who is also a close personal friend that did extremely well, and he told me that life is short, not in a "cliche" way, what he mean is that you NEED to make yourself happy sometimes, and besides, when you are a "rising star" thinking rich will help you become rich. Then there is the advice from my father since i am young; FOR TOYS....PAY CASH.... what he ment is that don't borrow to buy a toy..you must be able to pay cash for it without affecting your lifestyle and responsibilities. Then if you can do this.. look @ teh interest rates and finance if it is worth it and invest the $$ on something that will bring more than the financing interest rate.

Now, i did this 2 summers ago and bought a boat.... and last year bought a lotus and the formula seems to work for me..... OH YEAH.. and for the "life is too short" thing...... i have been in the hospital since November fighting for my life (now i am out since a week and recouping)..... so sh1t DOES happens... and as long as you satisfy your responsibilities and secure your future...don't bet your present ....and it is ok to indulge a little, you will be a happier person that way!

If you have the presence of mind to make that much money at your age, I'd hope you could figure it out without asking/bragging on a car forum. But, congratulations on doing so well.

I dont think that he is bragging... and its always easyer to make business decisions.. but when it comes to emotional purchases and your family (parents, GF) dont support you... you turn to your peers and friends for advice regardless if you are rich or not.... nothing wrong with that mate! Actually great business leaders are usually great because they surround themselves with good people and use the experience and advice of others combined with their intuition to come up with the right answers!
