Fair price on a used '07 Exige S

Hi All,

I was browsing through eBay when this '07 Exige S caught my eye (I've always loved the Storm Titanium color). The milage and condition seem reasonable and the price is pretty good.

Unfortunately I'm not anywhere close to PA so I can't see the car in person. Anyone familiar with this car?

Thanks,
Ryan

Car with that low miles and that nice is a Steal. My first Exige S was a Strom Titanium. This is the best deal going. I would jump on it If I were you. Make sure you get a Emissions test before you get it. My current exige had a decat on it that cost me two weeks and a grand to get legal!!!

Get an ECU printout and have it looked over by somewhere that knows Lotus.

Thanks for the feedback. It does seem to be a pretty good deal, maybe too good?

eBay does offer an option to have the car inspected for $100 which would probably be money well spent. If I did get a ECU printout do you have any suggestions who I could take it to to have it looked at? Is that something a dealer would do?

Thanks,
Ryan

Sounds like a great deal. If you like that color, I'd do it. I got mine on ebay too from SD. Never saw it. Call the seller up and chat. If you get a good vibe, then pull the trigger. Cost me $775 to have it shipped open trailer to CT.

Ryan,

Get an ECU dump done and then post it up on here. Many of us know what to look for so we can all help out.

I would be more than happy to look at it for you.

Good luck with your purchase.

Not sure what an ebay car inspection is but you really need to get a specialist look at it rather than just any mechanic - it may be $100 wasted.

Good point.

I'll work on getting a ECU printout. If I get it, I will be sure to post it.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hmm... well, if it gets sold before I have a chance to buy it then I'll continue my search. I'll try to prevent myself from panicking and making a decision before I'm ready.

Cheers,
Ryan

For reference, I paid ~41K for a 2007 Exige S with star shield, touring pack, and track pack. It had 6,500 miles on it.

There was a ding on the intercooler, probably from hard rev drops torquing the engine mounts, and the backup lights didn't exist. The oil smelled a little like gas, possibly from running too rich, but I never figured it out. It got totalled after a month, so no complaints, it was pristine for as long as I had it.

It's not too fishy to find a deal like that in a more rural area, especially in this economy. I snapped mine up out of Texas, same day it was listed. I think it was haunted though. It made weird noises when I was alone with it in the garage at night, and smashed into a tree after someone hit me.

Same color as that one too...

They say on a cold, dark winters night you can still hear it's supercharger if you listen close...
