LA car show... Lotus info

Went to the LA car show early Sunday morning, 9AM ,Great time to go by the way, it was totally dead got to sit in pretty much every car I wanted to. I showed my keys at the Lotus booth and talked to a factory rep who was in the marketing department. Here is some possibly interesting info though nothing really we did not know already I guess :

1. 2007s with the new bumper mods are gearing up on the lines

2. The Europa will not come over to the US, and it has a GM powerplant

3. The Esprit has been pushed back beyond 2008 possibly.

4. A mid range (above the Elise ) car will be coming to the United States in the next few years, again ,not the Europa

5. Lotus is building the entire Tesla at the factory for them not just the body and chassis

I feel sorry for the booth guys they show a great deal of patience with some of the moronic know it alls. Witnessed some idiot debating with the Lotus rep that the Elise comes with a 4G ? engine out of the MR2 , and that Toyota designed the chassis for the last Esprits !

haha - so true. When I went by last night, a guy came in with ten minutes left in the show and I overheard him debating the chassis design.

The show was pretty boring. I like the "Holy Sh*t" posters, although they took them down shortly before we left. Friday morning was so dead, we couldn't believe it. Still ran into a few Etalk people though.

Just to be clear, the Evo kids were NOT with me. BTW, does Dave owe me five bucks yet?

Someone was telling my friend, who has a Lotus, that the Elise is built off a Miata chasis.

Where do people get this stuff??

The show was cool I enjoyed it. I went 4:30pm until close. Not enough time to see everything, surprised it wasn't a bit more crowded. I'll go again Saturday.

DVD

The lotus guys were awesome and gladly handed over a promotional DVD when I inquired about the video playing at the booth.

Problem is, the vid isn't the same as the one they were showing! I want the sweet footage of the guy tearing up the asphalt in the assortment of Lotus'

Anyone got any pull on here to get a copy of that footage? I was totally blown away...

That was "Victory by Design: Lotus" Aired on Speed TV. I thought I had a copy on my Tivo, but looks like it's been erased Maybe someone else here can burn it for you. BTW, that was our own Simon Croft driving the white Exige in that segment.

The promo DVD does have footage of various historic Lotus cars that are driven on backroads. I forgot which section it is on the DVD, maybe "history" or something.
