SY will become rare!

One motivation might be, they sold a lot of SY. Now if you want yellow, you will pay more for Solar Yellow.

What amazes me, is how many colors are options on this car. Hell, you can't get this many choices on a large production volume car like an Accord or Camry, yet Lotus can give us 19 choices.. including two different blacks and two reds that looks almost identical?

Indeed. It's a little disappointing that there are still only two colors that you don't have to pay extra for, but at least they changed to green to offer some more variety there.

when will we see pictures of actual cars with the new colors? When is the "model year" cutoff? (ie "we stop building 2005's in August" or sometime)
Of course I'm a freak, my old favorite color was AB,and my new favorite is "autumn gold" which Lotus will put on 3 cars worldwide. I can sure pick 'em, right?

By "modified", what do they mean, exactly? Are they changing the shade? I'm most concerned about LB and GG...

Yes, the color is different. In the attached PDF you can even see some of the changes.

It looks like Arctic Silver is lighter.

LRG seems lighter and a shade closer to a metallic BRG.

...am I correct in guessing that the phantom black is non-metallic?

er, never mind, just saw the other thread. Pretend like nothing happened.

I think it's a good thing that they are cycling out the more popular colors - get something new in the mix.

I'm assuming Solar is much more yellow than the Saffron Yellow (w/ red/orange).

I always disliked this about BMW. Red, white, and black or you pay extra on a 3, even an M3. Until 2000 it was the deal in a 5 as well. At least Lotus doesn't try to ship us "leatherette" (which I think is an even sleazier name than "MB Tex" was).

That's what I always thought BRG was like. That with Bisquit interior would be great, like my 1991 Miata (rip).

Any other SY owners concerned that the new yellow is going to make us look orangey?

I've already had one kid comment "Hey look, it's an orange one and a yellow one!" one day when I was parked next to my buddy's yellow car. I was the 'orange' one..

Also, have any of you guys noticed how at night it looks so much better? It really looks yellow at night, but in the day you can see the orange in it. Put in next to another yellow car in the daylight and it becomes "an orange one".

I like what they've done.

Curious to see what the new Storm Titanium looks like in the flesh, as well as the new colors.

If Chilli or Canyon is darker like BMW's Imola Red, it will be quite striking, with no hint of orange. There must be some appreciable difference, like metallic bits or pearl, to justify having 3 reds! The new yellow looks to have less orange it it. Polar blue looks interesting too.

Interior options? Have they gotten rid of biscuit and gone with a darker saddle/tan?

- J

PS: Next time I go to Symbolic, I may pick up a color swatch sheet if they have them to see the differences.
