"the Exige yellow looks like it has some rather large metallic flakes in it. If Lotus could produce the Lamborghini pearlescent yellow....hmmm...."

did you not read my previous post? I have lightning yellow, which is like the Lambo Pearlescent Yellow

made up of
Yellow
Yellow Oxide
Gold Pearl
and just a hint of black.

:-)

I'm extremely happy to hear that a true BRG has been added to the color chart, and ecstatic to find it a standard color.

I wonder if the Exige color choices will be the same.....BRG Exige, here I come!

You mean you're post where you said your yellow is a cross between Lambo Yellow and RX8 Yellow?

Ok, I saw it. It is NOT Lambo yellow. I'm sure it's nice, but I have seen the Lamborghini yellow in person (on a Gallardo) and that's the color (specifically) I think looks elegant.

The yellow paint on the Exige does not have huge metal flakes...much of that = camera flash artifacts. Mostly you notice the metallic highlights when light hits the car. Like in the rightmost of the 3 crops.

God, I certainly hope the mod laser blue is 99.99% identical to '05. At least it wasn't canceled.

phantom black is lookin' real good. Polar blue, aspen white and solar yellow are not bad.

thanks, robert!

Anytime! Here's a shot with "that" Lambo yellow in the distance...although the lighting is different. The rightmost shot shows that the new yellow color can look more conventional. Lighting affects the effect markedly.

One of the coolest details of the Exige versus the Elise, IMO, is the use of black mesh rather than the grills. It would be really nice to be able to retrofit that mesh to the Elise ... does anyone know if Lotus has any plans to offer a mesh kit, or any of our aftermarket companies like Sector 111, Blackwatch ???

I remember another thread where someone had done their own mesh work. It looked pretty cool, but I haven't seen anything on the market. I'm with you, though. I would buy that in a heartbeat if someone offered it.

I fell in love with some yellow pictures of the Elise, and figured Saffron Yellow was the color for me...until I saw it in person. I was like, "Dang, this is really orange! Just like real Saffron..... uh, DUHHHH Zeede, it's called Saffron Yellow for a reason..."

At any rate, no offense intended to owners of Saffron Yellow, but if I could get a yellow Elise with a bit less orange, I'd love it!

Edit: So in short, Solar Yellow will definitely be a color to check out in person!

You can get started anyway:

Thread with Mesh Grill

If you are talking about the exige at the NY show, at the time of the show I was told by Simon Croft of Lotus that the metallic yellow was as yet unnamed. It was not that far off from Saffron, maybe a drop less orange..Definitely a nice color....

I would prefer the "solar yellow" too - that looks like the color i kept asking Lotus to paint my car, along with black wheels - but alas.. to no avail! but after living with the saffron it really is nice, sometimes it does look a bit too orange, but i would say most of the time it looks just right, its a little car - so the color works - there is not a lot of color to go around!

Polar Perfect

About a year ago I became enthralled with this car when I saw my first picture of an Arctic Blue Elise. When I was offered the Polar Blue option I jumped at the chance. When I see the colour chip online I just close my eyes and dream. The tone is not quite the same, but close enough for my liking. Does anybody know where I can find good pics of the Biscuit interior, or has anyone seen a 2006 brochure yet? Heck, I don't even know how much my car will cost here, why sweat the details!

Here are the descriptions as given to me by Lotus via the dealer.

Canyon Red-Reference Bordeaux Red Pearl from 2005 with more red/less brown.

Chili Red- Reference Ardent red with a light gold pearl.
