New Rumor on the 2008 Super-charged models....

which may or may not be accurate.

Recently heard form a fairly reliable source that the 2008 Exige S (220 HP) will be running the same MP45 supercharger as the S/C Elise and the 2008 Exige S will not be intercooled. Only the Exige S 240, a distinct model, will have the I/C currently on the 2007 S......

You guys on the fence may want to consider getting one of the remaining 2007 Exige S's....

Hmmmm, will the '08 S still have the same cup roof as the 240 then?

The '08 base Exige S was never going to have the Cup roof -- the larger scoop roof (first shown on the Cup 255)was only going to be on the Exige S 240....if I understand your question correctly??

Actually this makes some sense.

Hopefully Lotus will clue us in at the LA Car Show.

That was correct. I wasn't aware there'd be a 220hp & 240hp Exige at the same time.

if that's the case, if 07 exige S buy an 08 ECU, will it be compatible and definitely get 20 hp jump?

Probably not....Lotus won't just sell an Exige S ECU to a dealer -- the dealer can only get S ECU's as warranty replacement and the dealer must return the original "defective" ECU. They are guarding their family secrets.

But wouldn't the ECUs be a little different with the addition of stuff like launch control, the different gauge cluster... or does that not matter?

Buy an 06 Exige, the most desirable model to modify, add a Sector Supercharger and a bunch of carbon fiber goodies and then buy $10,000 in jewels for the wife and avoid all of this nonsense.

The press release states that the base Exige S was using the non intercooled MP45. Read it carefully and you will see it is all there.

This 2008 sold in England appears to be a regular S and to have the intercooler. ???

It would make sense though as the lack of rear visiblity could be a major turn-off for alot of casual drivers. It was one of my (lesser) deciding factors.
