yes and no... the cost of going on thursday night is $125 or $250

so, if the "public" wants to pay that amount instead of the regular $10 admission fee...than it is open to the public.

Good show. I took a number of pics. Including the new single key solution.

Roger gave the media the presentation and we had the luck to be able to have a long chat with Roger later in the day, and also with some others including Arnie. The main thing I took away from those discussions was the impression that Lotus is back on track to what they do well. That was very good to hear.

Specific data points.

New SC Elise. 220 crank hp. Uses the new smaller blower mated to an integral intake manifold. Very light, only adds a bit over 8 kilos.

Exige will change over to this same blower, and drop the intercooler. Except the 240hp version.

Lotus will release a supercharger upgrade kit at some point.

2008 federal cars have tire pressure sensors. You can see a larger valve stem.

Eagle is one the way. Parts are now in production and things are going very well. Expect a product rollout towards the end of 2008 in certain countries and then release to the US market in late spring of 2009.

Esprit is following on the heals, perhaps 2 years later. It will use the same platform as the Eagle, but it may be slightly wider.

Eagle uses a new platform and forged aluminum suspension bits. The Eagle will be a 2+2 and then a 2+0 sedan. There will variants and upgrades released each year over a 6 year period at which time, there will be a new model to replace it. It will use a V6 from a well known manufacturer.

The pictures of the Eagle being shown around the internet are not accurate. Same with the Esprit mostly.

The 2-Eleven will not be coming over as a street legal version though Lotus wanted to. They just can't based on federal regulations.

Randy, is a '2+0 sedan' really what I'm thinking it would be?

Michael, I believe those were the words Roger used. I had heard rumors previously of a 2+2 hardtop car and a two seater version where the roof gets stowed where the rear passenger seating was... so who knows?

Well, this is Lotus. Some things they do quickly, others... not so much. They did not mention a price or date. Just that they would offer it.

The new key for 2008

Not bad looking and certainly better than the separate fob.

Will the 2008 key work with earlier models?

Sorry for the blurry pic. This is the new 2008+ valvestems that include the air pressure sensor. There is a small box in the rear that reads the values and supplies data to the ECU which sends it via the CANBUS to the dash.

I am just trying to give you pics that other people maybe did not.

No, it is a different system. Earlier models want to use the Unikey from Blackwatch.

Sorry Brian. Yes, Roger Becker. He was the one giving the press talk and Robert P and I met up with him later. He was very candid and it was refreshing to talk with someone that, IMO, was not worried about PR and the company line. In fact, he told the crowd that he was given a written script to use, but it remained folded up and he made up his own speech.

When we chatted with him, he talked a bit about the history of the company and the future of it. I will not say everything he said, but as I mentioned earlier, the future seems a lot brighter to me now than it did. I am very pleased with the focus and direction I heard.

Some ClubRacer pics.

The Hethel track decal on the rear of the car is also done in stitching on the inside of the doors. I think it is a nice touch.
