Actually you realize that the GTR is so ugly that it makes even the R8 look good

Found this one out in the wild....

Flash, you were taking pics at the same time when we were there (when Jay Leno was in the booth). This pic, you can see mine and Robert P's legs in the background talking to a suit.

As you can tell from my number of posts, I am new to this forum and almost as new to the Lotus world.

I went to the LA Auto Show last night to get some hands-on impressions of the Elise SC.

I was amazed that I was invited into their show area (for the general public it is blocked off, but they will let you in if your interest appears to be serious). And more amazed to be able to talk to a veteran engineer (I believe this was Roger Becker) for easily half an hour.

It was awesome to get real information instead of a sales pitch!

The other posts in this thread already cover most the information I received. A few things I didn't notice in the other threads: The yellow Elise SC that you have seen in the photos are actually an 2007 Elise retrofitted with the badging, wing, and supercharger. It doesn't have the new hood mesh of the 08. Also, the first batch to arrive in the US will be 25 cars (not sure if that's only Elise SC's or if that includes the other models), and are expected in Feb 08.

I was able to sit in the yellow Elise SC. It was not as difficult to get in or out of as I expected (although granted, the top was off). My friend got in the club racer Exige and pretty much had to roll out As I had heard on the forum, the pedals are *extremely* close together! I think I'll need to buy different shoes for driving lol!

You guys probably knew this, but I was told that if I was a hard top for the Elise, to order it with the car and not after the fact, because it's painted at the same time, so you get a perfect match.

The Z06 was a special custom conversion for Jay Leno. I can't remember the specs.

The great thing about the Preview night is that there are no crowds and yes, you can go in almost all of the exotics. (The Spykers and the new Lambo were off limits.)

It may be easier to get into the press days and that is even less crowded.

Sorry I missed you! There were a lot of guys with Lotus pins, etc... I wasn't sure who was who.

One more thing, did anyone notice the new plastic material they're using for the dash and side-sills? It has a much higher quality "rubberized" feel to it, but the problem is it makes it much tougher to slide into the car now.

came across the corvette by accident. Looks like anyone can buy this vette...in april 08. Looks like he got one really early! It's a special C6RS by pratt & miller to commemorate the C6R.

So are the alcantara seats and console standard (or part of touring package) as well, now? Or is this only for the club racer model?

It's funny how in 2004 we were told by LCU that Alcantara would NEVER be offered in the US because it can't withstand our hot summers.

More Club Racer photos please. How did it look in person? I love the interior, color combo and brake upgrade. I am not sure about the track logos though. One more thing to explain.

Looks like the only model they're going to preview in LA is the supercharged Elise. The Exige models will probably be shown at Detriot in Jan. What's with the 240 HP talk for the non-intercooled '08 Elise?

I have not heard any talk of a 240hp SC Elise. All I have heard is for 220whp.

There were new 2008 Exiges at the LA Autoshow and I don't think there will be a significant presence at the show in Detroit.

Lotus typically skips any official corporate display at Detroit.
