Hal, how many of those cones were down already and how many did you knock over? (joking)

Can you take more elaborate pics of the Lotus booth, please? I want to get a feeling as if I am actually there ... I appreciate it.

EDIT: At the NYIAS, we didn't have a Lotus booth. A few Lotuses thrown behind some gigantic Rolls-Royces and Saleens, yeah, but no actual booth with PEOPLE to talk to.

Mike,

I'll take as many photos as my digital camers chip will hold!
Cones? I thought the idea was to knock down as many of 'em to WIN!

Hey! I just poured a black russian and i didn't know that it was supposed to be a "small" drink! I'm slipping into oblivian! Thank goodness I don't have to drive.

Tomorrow (when I'm sober), I'll be at the L.A. convention center. Hopefully I'll be recovered by the over-hang and the headache is gone.

Wish me good luck!

There was discussion about supporting various racing series, including a 2-Eleven series in the US... and more support for grassroots racing in the US.

Also, Skip Barber people were in the booth for a while. For whatever that is worth.

I think we could develop an entire new type of motorsport based upon your driving reputation at solo events.

Knock down all the cones as fast as possible. +2 second penalty for missing a cone.

You should scan and upload that picture Mike made for you...it's priceless!!

OK, [/off topic]

I went today and it was nice to show me keys and the guy was like whered you get those? And I got let it not that its too hard to get in. I asked about the non 240 pack Exiges being intercooled and he said "eventually" as in by 6 months the transition will be made so that the only the exige 240 will have the bigger / normal supercharger and the intercooler.

I liked the show, but then, it was my first Auto Show.

Wonder if Lotus will pop up at the '08 NYIAS. I mean, we have a pretty big share of the market, too!

No doubt an "improvement" requested by Tesla. Isn't that just paint that will wear off in five years?

I stopped by at the Lotus booth yesterday. Roger Becker, Vehicle Engineering Director, was there and I got a chance to speak to him for a few minutes. Sorry if any of this has already been said... He said that the supercharger retrofit will be available by next summer and that it will be competitively priced (as compared to the aftermarket solutions). Anyway, he seemed like a really down-to-earth guy and took time out of his schedule to talk to me. A true gentleman....

Great time to go to the Auto Show is after 4 pm! You only need about 2-3 hours to do everything including the custom stuff in the basement.

And check out the super-rare new Lexus mounted on a dynomometer outside the Lotus area. They let people get in and rev it to redline. Quite a sound!

Just went yesterday and really had a good time. I was supposed to go to try to help a gf find a new car but ended up spending more time in the Lotus area than anywhere else.

I spoke with Rob, not sure which one, I forgot his last name. He was the tall, young looking guy. Anyway, he was awesome. I got to sit inside the Exige S 240 and we talked about the how it's different from the '07s & such. He explained the launch control and how the new dash is made out of better material. Oh and the gauge cluster, the big brakes, the cup holder. We talked about pretty much everything. The best part was when I asked about the Esprit. I asked how much power will it have and he said, "Plenty."

The 2-Eleven looked insane then Rob mentioned how fun it was to drive on the road. Yeah I bet.

After spending some time in the exotic section I went off to find a car that had a roomy interior, adequate trunk space, and good gas mileage. I really think the hit of the show was the new GT-R. Sorry but those of you who think it's ugly need to get your eyes checked. I don't think it's beautiful but it's definitely a mean looking car that means business. I'll post pics tonight when I get home. I actually took my big camera and got some nice shots.

That would be Robert Savin, he is the head of product planning for Lotus.

Sat in the new SKYLINE GT-R. It better be fast, because it is a big pig. The inside looks like a Radio Shack store.

Also sat in a Noble, finally.

That thing also better be really fast.

That is the WEIRDEST interior I've ever seen. Coated in some sort of velour. Yikes...
